My New Album Listenings For 2011
#1
These are not albums that I own, but those that I have listened to online throughout the year. I may purchase some during the year. I will make a new post for each month, and edit the current months post as I listen to something new. The grading system is as follows.

2.4 to 3.0 - Love it and will no doubt get purchased
1.7 to 2.3 - Like it and will get added to the year end list unless purchased before then
1.0 to 1.6 - Do not like it and it will probably never see my home

I compute this average grade by grading each track with a 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0.
I then add those individual grades and divide by the number of tracks to get an average.

There are very few albums that will fall into that Love category on a first listen.
That doesn't mean that they wouldn't after a few spins.
Last year, more fell into the bottom ranking than any other.
However, enough fall into the middle to end up with a buy list that I never achieve.
I am not wealthy.
When my ship came in I was looking for a train.

Hey Ed - I have to say I have never met anyone who listens to as much material as you. You must be a walking music encyclopaedia (sp?)

I'm sad to see that nothing has made it to 'Love it and will no doubt get purchased' but it's only January.

No worries, that just means the ones in that second tier will get purchased.
Takes a lot for me to say I love an album on 1 listen.
