I think that they're an edgless, trendy Wal Mart rock band that you don't have to think about and offers no insight or musical stimulation. Kind of like Nirvana too.

Um, Nickelback isn't loved, at least not by the people around me. They really do suck.
And as to the comment about Nirvana, I beg to differ. Kurt Cobain was a rock god. Grohl and Novoselic weren't too shabby either.

Just because 2/3 of every idiot says Kurt Cobain is a rock god and just because Rolling Stone magazine says he is one, doesn't make it true. Sorry. Either way, it's subjective... But all he's got going for him in the rock god category is that he was a junkie; he doesn't have the talent, nor is he even remotely interesting.

Fair enough, but just to clarify I am NOT saying Cobain is a rock god because I'm going with what everyone says or because Rolling Stone said so...I greatly appreciate Nirvana's music and I think Rolling Stone is a pile of crap.

on the topic of Nickelback, try living an hour away from their hometown? Yes, indeed I live about an hour from Hanna, Alberta (their hometown). Around here its about half and half. Half of the folks, seem to just LOVE them, and think they are something we (who live in this Canadian province) should be proud of, the other half can't stand them. As for me, well ok I guess as a Canadian I should admire them for what they have done (coming from such a small town, and sort of hometown boys) but seriously .. I cannot stand them!! LOL!!
Seriously .. enough already with the "oh hail to Nickelback" chants that I keep hearing around here!!! GAWD!! :oh:

I didn't say I admire them, I said I probably SHOULD admire them, being Canadian - "home town boys" type thing. I am sorry Underclass Hero I don't know where you are from, but if you are Canadian you will understand how we (as a nation) always seem like we have to prove ouselves by those that have "made it" internationally (not that I agree with that mentality either). Thats why I said I probably SHOULD admire them. I will say this though .. I will give credit where credit is due. In that, they obviously found a niche somewhere along the lines. Found a label that just LOVED what they had to offer and took a band from a "nowhere" little town and turned them into international super stars. They have legions of fans, so obviously there are folks out there that like what they are doing. That's fine. To each their own. I am not going to bash Nickelback fans, I am just going to say, personally they are not my thing. :
