ok, this isnt going to be a very thought out, well written review!, i heard this album on an ipod at work today, its only been released for a week or so in the UK and i wanted to get it on here ASAP,because it's worth listening to!
Rumer is a Pakistan born,English raised singer. this is her second album.
its a bit bluesy, jazzy, folky and soul in parts so i wasnt sure just where to put it???
i was amazed at this girls voice when i heard it....in some parts(dare i say it) its the closest thing to Karen Carpenter's vocals i have ever heard, sounds a bit Suzanne Vega, ish also in places.
its the sort of album that even on first listen that the songs sounded familiar, even though they are all originals, the backing vocals and the instrumentation are fantastic, a breath of fresh air after having to listen to Floyd for the last week and a bit..LOL!
anyway i could only find 3 links to this album, thankfully they were all 'live' versions of excellant quality, i know this doesnt really give you what the album deserves, review wise, but check out the links, you'll be very surprised.
I REALLY LIKE THIS ALBUM (from initial airing)
it probably is worth a rating of 2.0+
