What Are You Listening To?

never was a fan and yet I have this
the only tune I ever liked is below
didn't like Diamond Girl or Summer Breeze
then I have this hummingbird feeder hanging on the porch
every time one comes and then leaves
I have to sing hummingbird don't fly away, fly away
it's very annoying

this stuff is so corny now
but damn it was so good back in the day
Neil started in the 50's so he had a lot of that do-wop in him
didn't know he was a member of the Tokens (The Lion Sleeps Tonight)
I'm always learning all this useless knowledge by doing this
isn't it fun?

my fav from here
and the video is pretty funny, 50 years on

man, I love Neil Sedaka's music...
one of the master's of the simply three minute sing-a-long pop song!

here's one of my faves for you that was only ever released as a single here in Australia...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1skAVcuTSoU audio...
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

thanks
had never heard that
use of horns is different
I've been to Wheeling West Virginia
used to be a race track there

I saw an Elton pic in that vid
I read where he took Neil under his wing for a spell
signed him to his Rocket label

yeah...
I believe Elton sang backing vocals on few of his tracks in the 1970s(but remained uncredited on the albums)...

Sedaka wrote and recorded "Wheeling,West Virginia" when he was living in Australia in the late 1960s(68-69 from memory)
the song was a top20 hit out here,
not sure why he never released it in the US though????

he advertises a 10cd,150 track (or similar) compilation set of rock classics on one of those home shopping stations over here...
Kenny Rogers does the same for a multi cd country compilation set also...

I guess they gotta make money doing something at their age?!?

PETER ALLEN "the ultimate peter allen" cd, 2006

career stats:
studio albums......8
singles...............19

this album.........#18 AU

showman, troubadour, Vegas entertainer....
Peter was all of the above and he lived the Liberace lifestyle also...
this is a collection of twenty of his best tracks....
easy sing-a-long tunes that get stuck in your head, but theres more to Allen
than "i go to rio", he wrote some beautiful ballads also...
"don't cry out loud", "i honestly love you" and "the more I see you" to name a few...
best track on this collection for me is "Tenterfield saddler" which is pretty much his life story
from growing up in the Aussie bush through to his heady Vegas days of superstardom...
a great collection of songs on this compilation that shows his prowess as a writer and performer...

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

We used to watch the Dinah Shore Show all the time when I was a kid.
As I got older for some reason, I did not care for her.
BTW MH, the video is gone. Didn't get to hear the song.

I know it's early but folks are already shopping for Christmas.
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I still love Dino
Watched his show every week. I had a huge crush on him back then
