A recent survey of UK adults has revealed that the majority (60% of almost 3000 surveyed) would like a classical or operatic theme for the UK 2012 olympics, along the lines of Nesson Dorma.
What would you choose?

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )

Something by Schoenberg.
I'd be interested to see how many people would develop a sudden interest in atonal 20th Century music (Joking BTW)...

I only know the Violin Concerto, and don't know that very well !!
Bought it some time last year after another member mentioned him.

What about something by Edward Elgar? He's a better-known British composer, and something along the lines of his Pomp and Circumstance or Enigma Variations is what people may have in mind...
Just my $0.02.

Could you imagine an operatic theme in the Olympic stadium acoustics. It could sound awful, surely a safe bet would Classical.

I take back what I said. I watched an interesting documentary on the telly about the building of the new Wembley Stadium. The angles and corners have been designed so that the acoustics are near perfect. No more echo noises.

The O2 was never designed as a concert venue I guess. What was it actually designed for?
