Hello Hello
#1
I'm Nile870, I named myself after the Technical Death metal band Nile.

I like, a lot of metal - tech death, death, thrash, prog, doom, classic.
I also like some electronic stuff - Intelligent dance music, hardstyle.
I also listen to some jazz, big band and some newer stuff.
AND I REALLY LIKE ANYTHING PROGRESSIVE/MUSICALLY TECHNICAL/AVANT-GARDE.
And I live for punk. Hardcore punk and old school punk.

Although I don't LISTEN to all types of music, I can appreciate it.

Except this new Hip Hop/RnB garbage. That's just disgusting.

I like Meshuggah... They're considered to be technical/progressive/avant-garde/trash/death metal. I like progressive rock but I haven't really found any progressive "metal" bands that I find appealing. They seem really cheesy for the most part and the feeling just doesn't seem to translate well for me. Dissonance is kind of a staple of metal music, while it's a rare thing in rock music, which is one of the reasons progressive rock (of the bands I like anyway) is so cool to me. I like quite a few avant-garde rock/metal groups, though. Any bands in particular that you like that are avant-garde/progressive in nature?

IDM is cool too. Jazz/big band is the root of all that is amazing and good.

EDIT: Welcome as well! I got carried away.

Hi Nile 870,

there are a few metalheads here, so I hope you'll like the forum.

I think your open approach to music is the only realistic way. Even hip hop has its' place !!

Oh man, I absolutely love Meshuggah. Most of my (metalhead) friends think they're just noise, but I don't think they understand that Meshuggah's music is so technical that it sounds random.

Yeah I have this joke, that all progressive metal would be better without vocals, like Dream Theatre lol. Um I like bands like Liquid Tension Experiment, Blotted Science, Attention Deficit.

Thanks for the welcomes guys =D

Ugh, god yes. Dream Theatre would be so much better without vocals. But Liquid Tension Experiment is pretty awesome from what I've heard... I saw Meshuggah live once. One of the most intense experiences of my life, I should say. They closed with Future Breed Machine. It was scary.
