What Are You Listening To?
Jackie-O Motherfucker - The Corner from Ballads of the Revolution [Fire Records, 2009]

I saw these guys live once, before I really knew them well. I didn't "get" them at the time. They are an acquired taste. Fall under a style that's been termed "New Weird America". I like 'em quite a bit now.

The Flaming Lips - The Sparrow Looks up at the Machine

Some time ago I said this wasn't as good as At War With the Mystics. It is not. Now, having listened carefully instead of background-listening - does that expression even exist? Idk... - to it, I can say its better. I quite like the Krautrock influences on that album. Very psychedelic and stuff.

Irish lad who was the vocalist for the Undertones (check 'em out) before branching out on his own. His solo work is a little more poppish than the Undertones stuff. Really like his distinctive voice. This is his second solo effort and I don't think it's as good as his debut, but still a good album. A very nice supporting cast of Waddy Wachtel, Benmont Tench, Russ Kunkel, Leland Sklar and Danny Kortchmar who also has production chores. Even got Keith Richards showing up for a track. Don't think this album even charted over here and I'm not sure about across the pond.

Good old Feargal! Not a fan of his solo work though I can recall 'A Good Heart' from his first album.

His sister used to teach P.E. at my old school ( not me though, we sconced behind the tennis courts )
