BEN HOWARD "every kingdom"
a recommendation to listen to from a work colleague
UK singer-songwriter/folk/easy listening guy
it didnt feel right putting it anywhere else but here
debut album of five, first one heard, still have one more she asked me to listen to
released in 2011
hearing some James Blunt in the vocal quality, maybe some Brandon Flowers too
hearing some Mumfords here and there
not bad for a first up listen by an artist i have not heard of
interesting to see what the other album ive been asked to listen to actually sounds like
this one scores 1.8 for a first up listen which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
favourite happens to be the lead off single:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

BEN HOWARD "i forget where we were"
the work colleague who recommended thes is only 21 (oh to be so young!!)
she has a huge interest in music and has started on the 'vinyl LP' path which is cool
she likes Dire Straits, Jeff Buckley, ELO, Queen and Johnny Cash from decades past
ive recommended albums for her to check out and she said i should listen to Ben Howard's first two albums
so here we are....
this is his sophomore album
a bit more melodic and accessible than the debut posted a couple of days ago
definitely more folky than the indi-folk of the debut but some of that ambient shoegaze on here too
only really one complaint and that is the songs are overall too lengthy for what they are
a much better album and one i would pick up at some point
album scores 2.0 on a first up listen which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

MARILYN MANSON "eat me, drink me" cd 2007
their sixth of twelve, i own around half
picked up at a record/cd fair a couple of weeks ago for $1
only vaguely remembered "heart shaped glasses" as being a single
never really liked that song so i wasnt expecting too much from this album
spent the last two days with it playing in the car
it was okay, nothing special, more 'shock' than substance IMO
but hey it does score 1.8 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

ALEX LLOYD "black the sun" cd 1999
aussie singer/songwriter
debut of seven, i own the first four
alternative, alt-pop, lo-fi, indi
most of the subject matter deals with the seedy side of life
off set with some quite uptempo music at times.
album scores 2.5 from me which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
random pick:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

I've been in the mood for a bit of Bob Marley lately - dipping in and out and playing the songs I like ... Kaya is an old favourite sooo ....

PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED "public image" cd 1978
John Lydon's band after he left Sex Pistols
debut studio album of ten, i own half of them at this stage
title track has a punk vibe but theres reggae, dub, 'drum n bass' sounds on here
a bit of a mish-mash, some good and some bad but all strictly Rotten, LOL
album scores 1.7 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

SUPERGRASS "supergrass is 10" cd 2004
brit-pop group
their first compilation containing their biggest hits in the UK from their first decade
probably my favourite brit-pop band alongside Oasis
album scores 2.4 which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
their biggest and best single IMO

PROCLAIMERS "sunshine on Leith" cd 1988
from Scotland
their second of eleven, i own three, maybe four from memory
the reason i put them in alternative is because they cover pop, folk, country, alt folk and hints of rock
some songs are quite tongue-in-cheek, some are serious but all up a joy to listen to
so much more to these guys that the two worldwide smash hits "500 miles" and "im on my way"
album scores 2.6 from me which means...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
the gorgeous title track:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight

GEORGE MICHAEL "faith" cd/vinyl 1987
his first post Wham! solo album of five,
i own four plus all two Wham! albums, Lynne owns them all
she owns this on original vinyl, cd, 2011 reissued vinyl and picture disc.
anyway on with the album....
had to put it here because it has so many styles:
pop, soft rock, dance, disco, jazz/blues and an almost rap sounding tune
so ten tracks, seven were released as singles, six of which were UK/AU top ten hits
all seven peaked in the top-5 on the Billboard charts.
an absolute masterpiece of a pop/rock album IMO
album scores 2.7 from me which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
lets go for this one:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
