SPLIT ENZ "conflicting emotions" cd 1983
their eighth of nine and i own them all
from New Zealand
more of a straight forward rock sound that sounds more like Crowded House than Enz for the most part
this album was the start of the end for the band
Tim had just released a hugely successful solo album here and was more keen to promote it than work with the band
i guess the album title said it all....
its a good album and does contain one of Neil's greatest ever songs in "message to my girl"
album scores 2.23 from me on this occasion which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
one of those great 'deep cuts' from the band:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

JOHN FOGERTY "centrefield" 1985 cd
a revisit
i heard CCR's "proud mary" on the radio today and thought it was time for Fogerty...
anyway, a random pick and this one came out of the hat...
its always a toss up whether i prefer this or "eye of the zombie" best, i just cant decide...
anyway,
solid rock on here, heartland rock and americana sums up the rest...
album scores 2.4 from me which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
the first single of his i purchased:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

BUDDY GUY "living proof" cd 2010
legendary blues guy
EC says he is the greatest blues guitarist of them all
if EC says so then i take note!
dude was 74 when this one was recorded and he'll be 90 when he tours Australia later this year
saw him live around 2015 so he was 79 or 80 then and could still sing and play the blues
good album which scores 2.3 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight

NOEL GALLAGHERS HIGH FLYING BIRDS "back the way we came vol: I" cd 2021
compilation
two discs of "A" side singles plus another disc of "B" sides and remixes
first two discs are fairly good, the third is blah!
had forgotten how eclectic he had become post Oasis
liking most of the singles with three or four i love
album scores 2.0 from me which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
favourite single:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

BEN HARPER "give till its gone" cd 2011
a revisit
from Pomona, Cali....
tenth studio album of seventeen, i own four, maybe five?
the problem with being so eclectic in musical styles is that sometimes it does not work
and this is one of those occasions
its very blues rock-ish on this album
too guitar driven for what i like from him,
i prefer the silky smooth soulful Harper not this one
album scores 1.6 from me which means
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight

his eleventh of thirteen, i own eleven
contains "we didnt start the fire", not his best musically but very good lyrically
released seven singles off this album but only two are worthy as singles iMO
a very good album but over the crest of the hill for me
album scores a respectable 2.2 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
