JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS "greatest hits" cd 2010

a revisit
mostly Blackhearts' singles with a couple of Runaways tracks thrown in the mix
of the twenty-one tracks eight or nine are covers
i have got to admit it that i never liked this compilation previously
only a couple of tracks i did not like, the rest are decent rockers IMO
album scores 2.1 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

favourite will always be this cover of UK Glam Rockers The Arrows:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

BURTON CUMMINGS  "dream of a child"

from Lynne's vinyl collection
lead vocals for Canadian rock band The Guess Who
released in 1978 this is his second solo album and a first up listen for me
three covers on here:
Sam & Dave's "hold on, im coming"
Percy Sledge's "when a man loves a woman" and
Bobby Darin's "wait by the water"
the rest are original songs
slight Jackson Browne sound on a couple of tracks
overall, album scores 2.3 which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

The Songs of Distant Earth by Mike Oldfield. Woke up at about 3 this morning. A clear night sky. Put on the headphones and got lost in this album. Sun is starting to come up now, all the birds are chirping and I am heading to the beach for an early morning walk. Bliss.

Ruby posted something about APP's Gaudi album a while back. The La Sagrada Familia is finally due for completion next year (2026) - 100 years after the architect's death. The original timeline for completion was something like 400 years but due to advances in construction methods that has obviously been reduced significantly. Good to see that it is finally going to be completed.

DAVID BOWIE  "hours..." cd  1999

a revisit
his twenty-second studio album of twenty-six, i own them all
i call this album "the first of a reflections quartet", meaning that the songs on this plus "heathen", "reality" and "the next day"
are predominantly focus on life, love, aging, mortality/morality, hope and fear
and then after that we get "blackstar: which is his "death" album
those last five albums of his are five of his best IMO
album scores 2.6 which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Whenever I get weary of listening to my usual favourites - yes it does happen - I tend to gravitate towards this album. Very unique writing style - https://youtu.be/6myjARKjFLs?si=yCAp51UDAVlIwjBS
