NEW ALBUM: Paul Weller - "find el dorado"

YouTube listen

seventeenth solo studio album from memory
majority of this is in the folk vein
all covers, predominantly from UK artists from the 1970s
mainly acoustic but four or five upbeat tracks on it also.
not overly keen on the slower acoustic tracks as they all seem to sound much of a muchness
but i do like the tracks that 'groove'
two slower songs i like are the cover of Bee Gees' "i started a joke" I Started a Joke
and the one with Robert Plant on guess vocals:  Clive’s Song - YouTube
overall its quite beige
i will obviously get the cd because im a Weller fan but i aint spending $130 for a double vinyl LP that will never get played.

favourite:

love the slide guitar on this one also:

so the album debuted at #5 on the UK charts last week,
this week it is not even in the top-100 after one week.
ive been reading a lot of comments on social media and lifelong diehard fans are not happy with Weller's public support of Palestine and turning away in droves from him.
i am included in that group also,
as a lifelong fan this is the first time i have not purchased a new Paul Weller album (or pre ordered it) in 45 years.

to add to the previous post:

seems Paul Weller's 'accountants' have disengaged in working for him due to his genocide comments and continued support for Palestine,
he is now supposedly suing them for discrimination in response.
but it was okay for him to sack people back in the day if they were "tory voters" or refuse musicians who appeared at conferences for the UK Tory party, thats okay apparently.

as the line of his old Style Council goes "lights go out, walls come tumblin' down" and they certainly appear to be doing that around PW
