[Image: 220px-SilverchairFrogstompAlbumcover.jpg]

SILVERCHAIR  "frogstomp"  cd, 1995

a revisit...
debut of five...
Aussie grunge...
dudes were fourteen when they recorded this, fifteen when it was released,if it was an Adele album it would be called "14"!...
good solid album, can hear the similarities between them, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden etc...
4x platinum here in Australia, 2x platinum in the USofA...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

favorite is the fourth single:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

GEORGE EZRA  "wanted on voyage"  cd 2014

a revisit
his debut of three, i own all three and all three i love...
he doesnt really fit in rock/soft rock/country/folk/americana or pop so i figured i would play safe with alternative.
more singer/songwriter if i wanted to really describe his music
love his booming baritone and toetapping catchy little songs.
great artis, seems like a lovely fellow when interviewed etc..
album rates around 2.7 for me which obviously means...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

picking the obvious one here because that was the first one i ever heard:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

SILVERCHAIR  "neon ballroom"  cd,  1999

a revisit
their third of five studio albums
to go from mere Grunge wannabes on their debut to craftsmen of solid alt rock material in two albums is fantastic
eighteen years of age during the time they recorded this showed their potential was still expanding with a collection of deeply personal songs.
not comparing them to Beatles directly (and who would) but listening to this and their debut is like the differences between "please please me" and "rubber soul", theyre a million miles aprt in songwriting.
a solid collection of alt-rock on here, i cant remember if the follow up to this, Diorama, is my faovurite of this one but either way this album rates 2.4 which means....
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

fave is a personal song about lead vocalist Daniel Johns battle with anorexia nervosa:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

SEX PISTOLS  "never mind the bollocks, here's the sex pistols"  cd/vinyl  1977

a revisit
their debut and final studio album
absolute masterpiece of an album
one of the greatest debuts of all time and a cultural phenomenom that was the equal to Beatlemania, Elvis Presley and Grunge
if i made a list of my favourite albums of all time then this one would be top-10 for sure
almost perfect in every way, rates around 2.8 from me which means...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

lets go for this one"

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

THAO & THE GET DOWN STAY DOWN  "temple"  vinyl  2024

another pre-birthday gift from Lynne.
i have heard of this 'frisco alt-rock/folk band but never heard their music
Lynne heard some, liked what she heard and purchased it for me
their fifth and latest/final studio album
some cool alt sounds on here and it was enjoyable because i had never heard anything by them
would i look further into their catalogue now?....well, i am curious so lets say yes.
i think of score of around 2.0 would be fair for this one from one solitary listen which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

MY MORNING JACKET  "happy holiday!"  vinyl 2023

a birthday gift from Lynne and the one i most wanted to hear.
was originally released as a six track "ep" back in 2010-ish but reissues with two or three extra tracks for Record Store Day 2023
i struggled whether i should put it in country (it is country tinged), but also world music (because it is 'holiday' music) but decided on Alternative because well, if undecided things look better in alternative...
yes, surprisingly these nine songs do have a christmas feel/vibe to them overall.
three or four covers on here and the rest written by Jim James.
this is a really good album as all songs are respectful of that time of the season and what it means.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

let's do this one also:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

their third.
