US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 18.03.25 #24

THE TOP TEN:

Teddy drops to ten with 'Lose Control' as Billie Eilish drops to 9 with 'Birds Of A Feather.' Drake is reaching a new peak of 8 with 'Nokia', and Chappell is reaching a new peak of 7 with 'Pink Pony Club.' ROSÉ and Bruno Mars stay at 6 with 'APT.' And Kendrick drops to 5 with 'TV Off.' Slowly climbing back is 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' at 4, which is just below 'Not Like Us' at 3. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars 'Die With A Smile' is still at 2 and taking number one for its fourth consecutive week, whilst spending its 16th week in the chart is 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

NEW ENTRIES:

100. Te Queria Ver – Aleman/Neton Vega (5/10)

This song is just brainrot. It talks about Insta, Aura, Baby Girl and just the classic rap activities, but instead it's a Spanish pop song that has a funky changing beat along a drum loop that sounds different from something that Neton would usually do, but it's still easy to make and just sounds minimal effort and boring. Wasn't expecting something good from Neton anyway.

97. Texas – Blake Shelton (4/10)

Country-pop goes wrong a lot of the time, and this is an example of just that happening again. The song is about Blake's girl who has run away, and she's probably gone to Texas, but the way it's sung and how cheaply it sounds, it ends up sounding like something that would get played in Chuck E. Cheese. That's what makes me think this is a throwaway song; either way, there's no way of this becoming a hit.

95. Lovedr*g – Lady Gaga (6/10)

This was a step down. As much as this had quality, it felt like a huge letdown for the next song and really dropped the phrase "dance or die." In fact, I feel like this could be a lead-up to a slower pace, seeing that the last song on the album is "Die With A Smile."

93. Killah – Lady Gaga/Gesaffellstein (7.9/10)

Can't knock this either because it's a well-made song. It brings a retro feeling that sounds like it would fit a 70s bar scene, with the backing screams and rock; it really sounds like Gaga switched things up while keeping her all-loved pop style. I wasn't expecting her to deliver something like this, but if you like those old guitar plucks and are one for the 70s-sounding rock, then this is for you!

87. Proud Of Me – Fridayy/Meek Mill (1.9/10)

If you put the vocals rougher, it's almost a replica of a Tom Macdonald song. Also scrap this; I don't care if it's full-blown emotional; it's full-blown rap crap. The vocals showcase zero talent and are straight-up autotuned talking; this feels more like a vent than a song because everything here is just cheaply made and stuck onto the song.

85. Zombieboy – Lady Gaga (8.2/10)

This is real dance music; it sounds like something off of Tension II but instead with more glamour. Just like the previous songs, this sounds like it has serious potential to be a lead single with its coating of old-style production but still sounding like it can be a hit today; it sounds fit for any era in the charts. Dance or die!

83. Like JENNIE – JENNIE (8/10)

And this comes as the second single. I really liked this from this album! Wow, I really think this should've been a main single! It's got an incredible dance routine as well. It has that constant pattern and fast ups and downs that make it like an action movie and keeps you hooked; Jennie's vocals are on point and fit in well with the constant pulse of the song. Give this a try!

81. Perfect Celebrity – Lady Gaga (9/10)

This is the first song from the album I've heard when actually sitting down to hear the whole thing, and WOWZERS!! GAGA IS GOING ALL KILLER NO FILLER WITH THIS!! We got a rock-pop powerhouse that sounds like Disease but even better; her vocals have that extraordinary passion for the MAYHEM era, which I love to see. Gaga isn't playing any games with this one! Easily the best thing I've heard from her!

80. Handlebars – JENNIE/Dua Lipa (5.5/10)

This song doesn't bring out complete, utter nonsense, but it sure is boring. I've now heard multiple songs that are main singles from JENNIE'S new album, and they all don't really deserve any hype. In fact, this song is the best one yet; without Dua's verse, the score would drop, though. The interesting noises in production were also one of the only reasons why I spared it with this score. After these performances from her and the lack of interest that sounds like it's going to be in the album, the only thing pulling me in is the wide range of features on the project. Disappointing.

69. How Bad Do U Want Me – Lady Gaga (7/10)

Ok, so we're leaning into a sound that fits Taylor Swift, with the lyrics and vocals matching her. I wouldn't be surprised if this was inspired by her. And as I predicted, we are losing "dance or die" a lot more because this more feels like a song to sit and relate to rather than going all out dancing; it builds more of a sound that's like a strong, lead Taylor Swift song.

66. Sweet Dreams – J-Hope/Miguel (7/10)

I thought this was going to be interesting, and I was right; it's giving something that would've fit on Mac Miller's 'Balloonerism' as a good track. Miguel is very much capable of making something memorable, but when I saw J. Hope, I was questioning how this would sound. It turns out Miguel ruled most of the production elements, which I thought was a very good choice, and J. Hope did a great vocal job. A pleasant surprise!

61. Vanish Into You – Lady Gaga (9/10)

DON'T YOU DARE BASH THIS!! THIS IS PEAK!! THIS IS FROM THE ICON. FROM THE MOMENT. OOOONA NA NAAAAA. OK, I'm going to calm down now and act serious because I'm getting a little too excited. Gaga delivers a pop song that's easy to understand but still hits hard with its radio-friendly hook and signature style. This feels like a great song to sum up Gaga, the powerful vocal holds, and the constant beat pulse that keeps you amazed throughout the whole song. You have to hear this!

52. Garden Of Eden – Lady Gaga (7.8/10)

Now that the Gaga album is out, we are left with the promoted single 'Garden Of Eden,' which is a good choice to put at the start of the album. It's fun; it makes you want to dance, and just like 'Abracadabra,' it's a rollercoaster of a party, which I truly believe has the power to get picked up by radio or even take Gaga to number one, and we need a hit single with staying power because right now 2025 has just been songs recycled from 2024. I'll be looking forward to hearing the full album 'Mayhem,' and this song is making me look forward to it even more!

13. Anxiety – Doechii (8/10)

And now the famous segment we all know and love is in a song, and Doechii nailed this too! The rest of the song kept the same level of sound, which I really enjoyed, and her vocals were soft and smooth, which was relaxing despite what she was rapping about. In the end, Anxiety sounds like it could be going places; social media should really pick this up!

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 25.03.25 #25

THE TOP TEN:

Doechii's 'Anxiety' heads the top ten for the first time as 'Pink Pony Club' (at 9) and 'Not Like Us' (at 8) get pushed down due to the Carti album bomb. 'Birds Of A Feather' pulls up to 7 as 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' declines to 6. Chappell Roan's country crossover song 'The Giver' is new at 5, as Carti and The Weeknd celebrate another joint top ten with 'Rather Lie' at 4. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have 'Die With A Smile' slip to 3 due to Carti's 'Evil Jordan' entering at 2. And taking the number one for its 5th consecutive week while spending its 17th week in the chart is 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar featuring SZA.

NEW ENTRIES:

96. Walk – Playboi Carti (5/10)

88. South Atlanta Baby – Playboi Carti (4/10)

86. Overly – Playboi Carti (3/10)

85. Dis 1 got 1 – Playboi Carti (5/10)

80. C*Caine Nose – Playboi Carti (4/10)

75. Opm Babi – Playboi Carti (3.5/10)

71. We Need All Da Vibes – Playboi Carti/Young Thug/Ty Dolla $ign (3/10)

69. Munyun - Playboi Carti (4/10)

65. Olympian – Playboi Carti (3/10)

58. Twin Trim – Playboi Carti/Lil Uzi Vert (3.5/10)

57. Emergence – Sleep Token (5.5/10)

Previous listen:

I really can't see what separates this song from others and makes it amazing.

Added:

It's just a dull rock song that doesn't showcase the band's full potential; it needs more of a pick-up.

56. Like Weezy – Playboi Carti (1.8/10)

55. Crank – Playboi Carti (4/10)

54. I Seeeeeee You Baby Boi – Playboi Carti (4/10)

53. Jumpin – Playboi Carti/Lil Uzi Vert (3.5/10)

52. Wake Up F1lthy – Playboi Carti/Travis Scott (4/10)

49. Charge Dem H*es A Fee – Playboi Carti/Future/Travis Scott (3.8/10)

48. HBA – Playboi Carti (4.9/10)

46. Trim – Playboi Carti/Future (3/10)

45. Dark Thoughts – Lil Tecca (5.5/10)

Previous listen:

The definition of boring.

Added:

I don't get the huge attention for this; the rap song features no ability to give a good hook. The beat is about the most I can applaud; it gives a summer feeling with different layers that don't complement the vocals but just lie beside them. Apart from that, it's autotuned rap that has a reason. I can see why people would enjoy it, but it's still not for me.

43. Radar – Playboi Carti (7.8/10)

41. Pop Out – Playboi Carti (8/10)

38. K Pop – Playboi Carti (8/10)

34. Toxic – Playboi Carti/Skepta (6/10)

33. Fine S*** – Playboi Carti (4.1/10)

28. Philly – Playboi Carti/Travis Scott (8/10)

27. Mojo Jojo - Playboi Carti (7.2/10)

25. Backd00r – Playboi Carti/Kendrick Lamar/Jhene Aiko (6.3/10)

20. Crush – Playboi Carti/Travis Scott (8/10)

17. Good Credit – Playboi Carti/Kendrick Lamar (8/10)

With an uncredited Kendrick Lamar feature, Good Credit is off his long-awaited 'I Am Music' album, and I can't even lie, the Kendrick verses carry. Kendrick's flow is a lot more catchy and feels more naturally strong. Carti does deliver a good verse, though. The gritty trap/rap beats are really giving the centre of what rap is, and that makes the song a lot better. I think this definitely has potential!

5. The Giver – Chappell Roan (1/10)

In this song, "The Giver", Chappell Roan is in it, and in this case, she has given us a pile of steamy hot garbage. The Giver represents the pop-to-country crossover that nobody wanted; the lyrics follow the same cringe copy and paste from Chappell's other songs, where she tries to spread the message about how a country boy doesn't know how to treat a woman right and only a woman knows how to treat a woman right, if only she didn't put this message across without sounding like she's Nikocado Avocado at a pride parade. The production here really resembles basic country music that poorly gives across her fun energy and instead feels forced. Please don't lean into this era, Chappell.

4. Rather Lie – Playboi Carti/The Weeknd (7/10)

2. Evil J0rdan – Playboi Carti (8.5/10)

After listening to six songs on the new Carti album, I was uninterested to hear the full thing; the best I heard was the Kendrick feature on 'Good Credit'. But I see the hype on this because it totally matches that song. This starts with a near one-minute trap beat before going into a verse Carti made on 'Popular' and turning it into one of the cleanest transitions I've heard in a while. This then went into Carti rapping; the flow was mostly up to standard, although some lines felt like they could've flowed better. It all felt pretty raw and straight up, though, which I liked.

US HOT 100 1.03.25 #26

THE TOP TEN:

At 10, 'Apt' returns the top ten as 'Not Like Us' slips to 9. Also returning are 'Beautiful Things' at 8, 'Nokia' at 7 and 'Lose Control' at 6. Chappell achieves a new peak of 5 with 'Pink Pony Club', which is just below the highest new entry, 'Just In Case' by Morgan Wallen at 4. Shaboozey returns top 3 with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' at 3, as Gaga and Mars are back to two with 'Die With A Smile'. And spending its 6th consecutive week at the top spot is 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar featuring SZA.

NEW ENTRIES:

97. Sunset Blvd – Selena Gomez/Benny Blanco (1.8/10)

Yeah… this album is lined up to be exactly the way 'The Secret Of Us' went. Selena sings in a whisper-like tone where she appears to eat Benny Blanco in the music video. The buildup to the chorus is unstable and comes out of nowhere while not even matching the buildup; it's horrible. This could be the worst album of 2025 already.

92. Friends Like That – John Morgan/Jason Aldean (6/10)

Since Jason's controversial number one in 2023, he's still managed to keep some level of respect as he keeps charting, but what he doesn't do is make something new. This is straight to the point: the most American country music you'll find with nothing else that adds any flavour or reason to love the song – it's the same old guitar song about a breakup with the classic voice you would expect for a country song, and the worst part is that this is a remix followed on from John Morgan's 2022 solo version of 'Friends Like That'. Why did he think it would be a good idea to remix this? I don't know.

80. Somethin' Bout a Woman – Thomas Rhett/Teddy Swims (8/10)

I heard of the song when it came out four months ago, but I was hesitant to listen due to him just being a feature, but I really should've listened to it. I really liked Thomas and Teddy's collab on 'Broke' a few years back, and that made it into my top 100 most streamed songs of 2024, but I just wasn't excited to see Teddy lean into country. As much as the other country songs he did weren't as good, this is one I'll say is actually pretty good! The song uses a slower-paced sound and soulful vocals that bring out the most in this track; it makes you bob your head back and forth because it's really groovy! And the production sounds after Teddy says "somethin' bout a woman" are my favourite part! That hits!

71. How Does It Feel To Be Forgotten – Selena Gomez/Benny Blanco (3.7/10)

Oh great… another song from their album I have to listen to. May as well listen to the whole thing later then. This follows the same pattern as a lot of the things the duo has done; it's a slow-moving romantic song that actually doesn't sound designed for TikTok but still blandly ticks the boxes. There's no real attitude or feeling to this; it's motionless and lacks depth.

70. This Town's Been Too Good To Us  - Dylan Scott (4/10)

The best thing here is Dylan's deeper and more intertwined with the song vocals, but apart from that, we've gone back to really boring country, where if you've heard country music many times before, then this is numb to you – there's just nothing to care about here and instead just a forgettable guitar and clap loop.

65. Mona Lisa – J-Hope (6.5/10)

I wish I could just enjoy BTS and their solo members music without having to be reminded how insane a lot of their fans are; if BTS started a cult, then it would probably be the biggest religion within a day. But I'm not here to go into a rant about that, as much as we could; we've got a song to talk about.' Mona Lisa's' strong points are its beat; it has a funky switch which separates it from BTS's other songs and makes J-Hope a standout. He does keep his lyricism the same about how he likes his girls, and he also gives a similar vibe in his music video (by doing a group dance.) The song is a radio groovy song that's already losing the spotlight, but I still think it's fair; it's not a replay, but I wouldn't complain at all about hearing it again.

59. Ojos Tristes – Selena Gomez/Benny Blanco/The Marias (8/10)

I've heard over half the album, and this is one of two tracks that are replayed (this being my current favourite.) The slow melody sounds perfect to just sit and stare into a sunset to; it's great for a main single and showcases The Marias style really well! It'll also help climb their first hit, No One Noticed', up the charts. The lyrics are about letting go of a boy, which follows the theme of romance and relationships on Selena and Benny's new album.

57. Just Us – Jack Harlow/Doja Cat (2.5/10)

Bro, Jack Harlow dropped one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life, and now he's back to doing the same songs that you might have heard from the 'Come Home the Kids Will Miss You' era. First of all, the lyrics in this song are worse than basic, and here are a few examples:

"Cause I'm tryna bust nuts in this b*tch."

"Slow it down like macaroni."

"Yeah, I'm that stupid, like, duh."

And then more lyrics which just have "Huh" as the cutoff point and just get cut off mid-vocals – especially for a chorus; this is really off-putting. Doja's vocals also usually follow a sharp, quick flow, but this doesn't have anything closely resembling that; it's like watered-down Doja. The production is really weak and feels like how most couple songs go; they tone it down on the production, and on this, it doesn't even feel like it was engineered to its best potential. The backing sounds like it's someone talking with a drum loop, and it doesn't work well with the vocals. Overall, it's weak and a disappointment.

17. I'm A Little Crazy – Morgan Wallen (6.9/10)

Update: This grew on me, but here's my previous write-up anyway:

Not again. Morgan... goodness. Every single from this upcoming album gets worse and worse than the last, and it's happened again; Morgan needs to stop this. This is the same country music that has no hook or real reason to have the song propel, and instead is just really simple, low-effort music that sounds ok to the ears, but that's about it. It'll probably still go high in the US charts, though, because it's Morgan Wallen.

4. Just In Case – Morgan Wallen (7/10)

This also grew on me, and I can understand why this was more popular than "I'm A Little Crazy". It has a more relaxed yet catchy melody that goes much smoother.

RE ENTRIES:

THE TOP TEN:

Billie returns to the top ten with 'Birds Of A Feather' at 10, and so does Morgan Wallen with 'I'm The Problem' at 9. Morgan's second top ten song, 'Just In Case', slips to 8, which makes room for 'APT' to climb to 7. Teddy Swims spends his 85th charting week sticking at 6, and Chappell spends her 42nd charting week with 'Pink Pony Club' at 5. Shaboozey drops to 4 to make way for Drake's 'Nokia' climbing to 3. At 2, 'Die With A Smile' stays put for Gaga and Mars, which is just below 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, which sticks at number one for its 7th consecutive week.

NEW ENTRIES:

96. Keep On Sippin' – Lil Durk (3/10)

94. Shaking When I Pray – Lil Durk (4/10)

93. Morena - Neton Vega/Peso Pluma (6.6/10)

Ooooh, the trumpet and chords brought some spice to the song, and as much as I was expecting this to be average, seeing their past charting songs, this was actually a pleasant surprise. What needs to be improved here is the lyricism; it sounds like an old man trying to rizz up someone who's not even half their age. Definitely some of the worst lyrics I've heard that don't make you want to party.

91. Hometown Home – LOCASH (5/10)

America is really addicted to making the most tedious and overused-sounding country songs chart on the Hot 100. It's the usual topics, mentioning Christianity while displaying a simple guitar and vocal overlap, which aims for a higher volume than lower volume production, but it ultimately fails.

90. Back To Friends – Sombr (7.5/10)

Really enjoyable! Kinda reminds me of Keshi with the effects on the vocals and overall just the production choices. The slow-moving beat with the clear instrumentals along with the vocal effects just puts you in a trance state. I can't say it does this in the best way possible, but it definitely has some real meaning behind it.

84. Can't Hide It – Lil Durk/Jhene Aiko (4/10)

83. 1000 Times – Lil Durk/Lil Baby (2.3/10)

81. Love Me Not – Ravyn Lenae (5/10)

I feel much more could've been done with this, but it keeps the fun, the pace, and the flow all at the minimum. More needs to be done to this because right now it sounds like a pop song on an album that everybody forgets about, and the vocals really don't help shape a better song either; they're boring.

72. They Want To Be You – Lil Durk/Future (4/10)

63. Vanish Mode – Lil Durk (2/10)

Lil Durk was never a master of lyricism, but this is awful; definitely not listening to his new album. This guy is rap crap official.

59. Hampstead - Ariana Grande (7/10)

54. Warm – Ariana Grande (7/10)

53. Past Life – Ariana Grande (7/10)

38. Dandelion – Ariana Grande (7/10)

18. Twilight Zone - Ariana Grande (7/10)

We have finally got the deluxe version of Eternal Sunshine, and with that comes this song. It sounds like a mix of 'The Boy Is Mine' and 'We Can't Be Friends', but something that doesn't equal the value of either. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not great. It would've totally fit on Eternal Sunshine, though. And this song has the lyrical value and the emotional value; Ariana has always been one artist with a signature style, and she balances herself out, but she does it especially well on this, and she takes it more easy while still sounding radio-friendly. Good song!

RE-ENTRIES:

95. Fix What You Didn't Break – Nate Smith
[I've already forgotton about this.]

86. Feel It – D4vd
[Why is this trending again and a lot more? Not complaining.

42. Intro (End Of The World) – Ariana Grande

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 22.04.25 #28

THE TOP TEN:

Morgan Wallen sees 'I'm The Problem' slip to 10, which opens up the gap for Benson at 9. BigX has 'All The Way' slip to 8 on its second charting week, which makes way for Teddy Swims to spend his 87th charting week at 7 with 'Lose Control'. Shaboozey has spent over a year charting at 6 as Alex's big breakout song rises to 5. 'Pink Pony Club' achieves a new peak of 4 for Chappell as 'Nokia' falls from its number two peak. Regaining ground is 'Die With A Smile' at two, which is just below 'Luther', which has its 9th consecutive number one week and 21st charting week.

NEW ENTRIES:

98. Whisky Drink – Jason Aldean (8/10)

WOAH… I ACTUALLY LIKED SOMETHING BY MR ALDEAN. Sure, this is still traditional American country-radio pop, but the guitars making the upbeat pop sound were actually pretty hooking.

97. Not At This Party - Dasha (6.5/10)

It's an acceptable attempt at getting a mainstream country song, but the pace feels rushed rather than going faster as part of the song. It also feels way too simple and could easily fall into American country radio play for just a day. I think she had the promo when she released 'Austin', but she built on pushing other singles too late, and now she has to face the consequences of one-hit wonderland. I'll give a generous 6.5, though, because it's still pretty fun.

94. Hands Of Time – Eric Church (7/10)

Wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did – country music is really taking an improvement this week. I actually felt this gave a successful attempt at not creating closely replicated country despite using sounds that feel more at home within the country scene – that's a tough thing to do. The song is a reminder about how time will keep going no matter what; the meaning is along a slow guitar-rock sound along with added-in clock ticking sounds.

90. Henry, Come On – Lana Del Rey (8.3/10)

It's Lana's signature; she uses her soft vocals along with slow and expressive instrumentals that help bring across the meaning of the song. It's better than 'Tough' and brings hope for the rest of the album!

81. Blue Strips - Jessie Murph (6.1/10)

As said before, Jessie may have the worst voice in the entire music industry; she sounds like a cat clawing at the ground while being pulled away. But she's actually starting to slightly redeem herself; this is leaning into her more pop style instead of country, and I think the change suits her a lot better. If she keeps this up, then she'll no longer be one of my least favourite artists.

RE-ENTRIES:

96. Like Jennie – Jennie
[This took a while to gain more traction.]

33. Fortnight – Taylor Swift/Post Malone
[I don't know why this is returning.]
