AMY GRANT  "my fathers' eyes"  vinyl 1979

from Lynne's vinyl collection
Christian Pop...
pretty sickly sweet, butter wouldnt melt in her mouth stuff here
pleasant enough but not something i would necessarily choose to listen to again
girl has a lovely almost Karen Carpenter quality
also, had no idea she ended up marrying Vince Gill
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

fave:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

MICHAEL NESMITH  "from a radio engine to the photon wing"  vinyl 1977

from Lynne's vinyl collection
had never heard a Nesmith solo album before so i thought, why not?!
soft rock/easy listening
same vibe as a John Denver or Jimmy Buffett album for me
very laid back, breezy, summery style
the single "rio" was a top[5 hit here in Australia but apparently never charted in the US
album also only charted in Australia too (stupid world!!)
this is a really good album on a first up listen and im sure with further listens at some point i will enjoy it even more
album ranks  a decent 2.2 on one solitary listen
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

fav is the single:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

PETER CRISS  "out of control"  cd/vinyl  1980

a revisit
his second solo album of five but first since being sacked from KISS
i own all five of his albums
this one contains soft rock, ballads, rock and easy listening
just as good as his R+B tinged debut solo album IMO
solid album that i love most tracks ans like the remaining ones
album would rate an easy 2.6 for me which means....
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

fav on this occasion:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

DAVEY JOHNSTONE  "smiling face"

from the MH vinyl collection thread
is this really the album cover?? if so, its bloody terrible IMO
anyway,
released in 1972
his debut of only two solo albums
long time Elton guitarist, worked with him through the 1970s and 80s and a few albums after that also
at least half of these soft rock tunes have a sound similar to some of Elton's material, must the guitar style maybe??
decent album but all much of the same throughout
nothing to love and nothing to dislike from a first up listen
that said there are two tracks that i preferred over the rest of it: "the boatman" and "you are, i am"
album would rate an even 2.0
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

lets go for this one:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

P!NK  "trustfall  cd, 2023

a revisit
random P!nk pick
her nineth and most recent album
yes, she deserves to go in soft rock/easy listening because thats what she is
sure there is a track or two of the doof-doof dance/pop  but overall she fits here
a lot more of the slower easy listening vibes here than usual but that is okay
a consummate song writer who pours her heart out in her personal songs and energy and feeling in her vocals
another very good album from Alicia Moore.
would rate 2.4 from me making it eight from nine albums of hers that....
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

THE HOLLIES  "the air that i breathe: the very best of"  cd,  2012

a revisit
a twenty-six track compilation of their biggest UK biggest hits
love most of these hits and like the remainder
was surprised to see they apart from the odd big hit worldwide they hardly troubled most charts
just a classy collection of soft rock/pop tunes from the 1960s through to the mid 1970s
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

couldnt go past this one on this occasion:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

RINGO STARR  "bad boy"  vinyl, 1978

was surprised to find i had not previously posted this album (or i just didnt look hard enough LOL)
anway,
his seventh solo album of twenty-one,
was surprised to find i own fourteen, the first eight on vinyl, the remaining six on cd.
soft rock suits this album best, easy listening....probably not
even Ringo at his best is still pretty average.
nothing overly bad on here, just nothing really exciting either
i dont like it but neither do i dislike it...
it is Ringo, thats the rating LOL

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

THE EAGLES  "the eagles" cd 1972

a revisit
their debut
more soft rock than anything else, elements of country and folk splattered throughout though
a good album but nothing overly great, three best songs on here are the three singles IMO
album would rank around 2.1/2.2 as a guess which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

fav:

SAVAGE GARDEN  "affirmation" cd, 1999

a revisit
Aussie duo, soft rock/pop is what i would call them
second album of two
an excellent album of 'relationship' songs.
incredible lyrics and production IMO
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

one of the most beautiful love songs ever

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

BEE GEES  "love songs"  2005

from Lynne's cd collection
soft rock/easy listening is where this one sits
love the cover art also, it is simply beautiful IMO
this is the PRC (peoples' republic of china) version
has a slightly different tracklist to the 'western' release but nothing too drastic
interesting to note that Andy Gibb even gets a tracks on here
album ranks 2.5 from me which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

one of the many classic songs from the album:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.
