^^
i looovvveeee Franz Ferdinand, so thanks for the heads up Ruby

on Ringo,
his best material has always been country orientated IMO and his new album is a country album.
lots of featured artists.

^I don't know if I do CH. Very sorry! I mean - he's doing ok ish but wow - his range is limited (to be expected - it always was) and the lyrics are a tad basic dontcha think? And the other problem is that I'm not a fan of that twangy pedal steel guitar. Make no error, I do like a pedal steel but I'm just not a huge fan of country. Wish I was, I try, every now and then, but it simply doesn't do it for me. I realise that will make me persona non grata in certain quarters. Blush Sad

Also, I don't think Ringo's doing Country music any favours - at least not on this track - in fairness, since we haven't heard the others. He doesn't sing in a country style, in my limited understanding of the genre, so it sounds to me as though there's a disconnect between the music and his delivery. Could be wrong, of course. Or just picky!

we will see how the album pans out next friday i guess.

i havent heard a decent Ringo Starr album since 1980-ish so thats 'a long time between drinks' (a cricket phrase)

his only full album of country came in 1971 "beaucoups of blues" when he was in his prime vocally (tongue in cheek for Mr Solitary Octave)
maybe try that one (or not LOL)

to be honest Ruby, im not expecting a full album of good songs, a handful will be good by Ringo's standards IMO

and as a footnote, another Beatle you probably do not care for (well probably anything after Band On The Run) is Macca, he has a new album coming out this year, not expecting much there either...

^Waiting to see if you listen to the album CH. And what you think of it!

Matt Berry is releasing a new album on the 24th of January. Very psychedelic - somewhat reminiscent of The Doors sound IMHO - especially on "I Gotta Limit". The album is titled Heard Noises. He's a chameleon, this guy. Two tracks out at this point ...

And another one to look out for - 14th of March - The Overview - Steven Wilson. Curious to hear what this is all about ... he's not giving very much away. <That statement may well be a contender for understatement of the year!

One on the to-buy list for sure. Had a listen to the track posted - classic Tull and the man has not lost his touch at all. Still sounds fresh as a daisy.
