What Are You Listening To?
Most Floyd fans cannot stand The Final Cut but I think it is an absolute gem of an album.

Jack Johnson's To The Sea. I can take or leave him but this album is especially good for road tripping I find. Haven't figured out why - maybe the calm and gentleness - and easy sing-a-long style? Anyway - he kept me company on a recent little excursion into the countryside. Along with several other hastily grabbed random picks. Ended up with The Best of Kansas, The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking (which incidentally is not great when navigating potholes, roadworks and rain), I Robot and Nick Drake's Five Leaves Left

Where to start??! Somehow missed this very unusual offering from Strawbs – or at least some of them. I had no idea Mr Cousins had been in my hood. Obviously don’t know the right people. LOL! Nothing like their 70’s stuff and redolent with South African flavours (percussively speaking and lyrically too, in places - Mr C seems to have been very impressed with our Waterfront and some local musos) which is very weird indeed! Huh! Not my favourite Strawbs release by any stretch and in any case, not the band as it was known – this release has Dave Cousins, John Ford and Blue Weaver alongside a bevy of our local talent - one Jonno Sweetman, drummer, is not too shabby. Sooo - not Strawbs as you would expect and once you get over that, things feel better. Also definitely not prog rock - erring more on the side of folk rock if anything.

Quite possibly the biggest anomaly of the Strawbs catalogue – even the cover kinda yells Cape Town … who'da thort???

This lady never got the recognition I think she deserved. This song has been covered by many people but she owns it. Outright.

Adele, Beyonce, Swift and all the other wannabees - this is how you do it...no gimmicks. no overdubs, no studio effects, no Autotune, no nothing. Just pure class.

PINK FLOYD  "the dark side of the moon" vinyl, 1973

LOL,
for someone who professes to not be a Floyd fan and does not rate DSOTM as high as most people i sure have enough versions of it!...
original vinyl with the prism on the label (original initial pressing), another 1973 vinyl, 30th anniversary vinyl, 40th anniversary vinyl and of course, the cd version...
FYI, the 30th/40th anniversary vinyl releases are still sealed...
so, the album, one of the instantly recognisable covers of all time along with Sgt Peppers and abbey road...
its a good album but i think they made better albums.
i listened to the original vinyl and then the cd to make comparisons..
the cd it obviously clearer in sound quality but i prefer the overall warmth of the vinyl to be honest...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

my favourite off the album:
