BEACH BOYS "best of the beach boys vol.2" vinyl 1967
their second compilation aptly and thoughtfully titled "volume 2"...
the first side is disappointing but the second side lives up to the hype.

Revisiting Marillion's F E A R which I have not listened to for a while now. Had forgotten how good it is. One of those you can really sit with, and absorb.

Mark Knopfler's Privateering, mostly due to one track and for a somber reason I'm sorry to say. There has very recently been a tragic freak accident aboard one of our submarines - three sailors lost their lives - two men and one woman. The sub was en-route from here to Cape Town and it was a helicopter transfer gone horribly wrong. Being an historic navy town, regular citizens can't help but be acutely aware of the awfulness of the incident and the toll it has taken is almost tangible. Dreadful for their families ...

tracks date back to 1962 in places...
some good stuff and some bad as usual but does contain my favourite song of theirs...
and even when i dont like their songs as songs i still love their pitch perfect harmonies which are excellent IMO...

New Zealand band...
debut of ten...
album sits firmly in the 'art rock' and 'prog rock' gernes...
hearing some Tull influences on a few tracks...
really, really good album from Mr Tim Finn and cohorts...
