i watched his speech,
sorry but i think he just likes to hear the sound of his own voice by waffling on as long as he did in a speech that would have had more effect had he kept it short and concise.

24 million people affected by those earthquakes - 2,4m displaced. It's horrific. Can't even begin to understand how awful it must be. All our problems pale into insignificance. I hope there is a special place in hell for contractors who take shortcuts.

i was in a minor tremor once which was only around 4 on the richter scale,
so quite mild in the scheme of things but it was enough to not want to go through it again.
it felt so surreal to have nothing beneath your as the Earth produced waves under them.
and unbelievable to actually see the ripples (waves) approaching down the street not knowing what it was at the time.

Heard about this some time ago. Never mess with a classic album. Not ever. He's just peeved that they are celebrating the 50th anniversary and he won't get noticed because he's not part of the band/business anymore. Silly thing to do.

Death toll in Syria/Turkey now over 50,000. It is absolute chaos over there.
And here is something I am going to try to get to see - Once in a lifetime event. Last time I was in the Rijksmuseum was around 2006 (I think).

^That exhibition looks amazing. Nothing like seeing beautiful works in the flesh, so to speak!
Sorry to be so absent everyone - there are bigger problems in the world I know, but these rolling blackouts are becoming a real challenge. Eleven hours a day now, in increments, with no sign of letting up. Something like 120 consecutive days of load shedding and we are on to four hour stretches. Not a lot of fun - crippling for small businesses especially, and with colder, darker days approaching, the outlook is decidedly dark! I feel very sorry for people with young families and for the elderly who don't have options. It's criminal, IMHO. Corruption that simply boggles the mind coupled with zero expertise.

Was talking to my Mom on the phone the other day. Says pretty much the same thing as you. The economy cannot continue in those conditions. I remember the days when we joked that the last one to leave South Africa should turn off the lights. Turns out even that won't be needed anymore.
