What Are You Listening To?
^^
yes, especially the younger generations,
seems like their attention span is about equal to that of Goldfish

Here's an idea for a 'reality' TV show. It will cost very little to produce. Take a group of twenty-somethings, take away their phones and lock them up in a room. The winner is the one who cracks up last. Should take less than an hour per show. The prize? The winner gets his phone back - fully charged. The rest forfeit their phones. Should be fun.

a career spanning cd containing hit singles from The Jam, Style Council and his solo years...

excellent album IMO

so after listening to the 'best of the best' of his singles from the first 30yrs of his career my favourite single is the one that personifies the exhuberance of youth IMO.

Your hair hangs in golden steps
You're a bonafide in every respect
You are walking through streets that mean nothing to you
You believe you're above it and I don't really blame you
Maybe that's why you speak like a child;
The things you're saying like "I'm so free and so wild"
And I believe it when you look in my eyes;
You offer me a life, and never lies
Least only the kind to make me smile

Your clothes are clean and your mind is productive
It shops in store where only the best buy
You're cool and hard, and if I sound like a lecher
It's probably true,
But at least there's no lecture

I really like it when you speak like a child
The crazy sayings like "I'm so free and so wild"
You have to make a bargain with me now
A promise that you won't change somehow
No way, now how

Spent all day thinking about you
Spent all night coming to terms with it
Time and conditions are built to tame
Nothing lasts with age, so people say
But I will always try to feel the same

I really like it when you speak like a child
I really like it when you speak like a child
The way you hate the homely rank and the file
The way you're so proud to be oh, so free and so wild

SMALL FACES  "greatest hits"  cd 1983

^^
just a generic best of image as i cannot find the cover art for my album...
my favourite "british invasion" band, no, my favourite band of all time, period!...
album contains all of their UK hits and a few better known "ep" tracks from the 1960s...
a great cd showcasing the various styles of music the band embraced...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

one of their singles that are often overlooked in favour of catchier tunes:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Good listening, IMHO. So much hoping his new one follows suit!

Nice guitar bits, courtesy of Dave Colquhoun (who, incidentally, was one of the guitar coaches for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie).

THE SWEET  "greatest hits"  cd,  2000

a revisit...
20 track compilation from this UK Glam Rock band...
mostly singles from their 'classic' years (1970s) but i find it strange that one of their biggest hits (love is like oxygen) isnt on here.
still, a reasonable compilation showcasing what they were good at.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

not my favourite but the one they wrote about Jimmy Saville
