I am sure, just as was the case with Diana, we will all remember the exact moment we found out that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. RIP. She had a privileged life but by no means an easy one. A tough cookie.
Quite fitting then that a double rainbow was spotted over Buckingham Palace yesterday. The end of an era really. Charles has some really big shoes to fill.

^Absolutely – the end of an era for sure. I am no supporter of the royals, but she set and upheld an extremely high standard of public service. Can’t have been easy at all at times, despite her stoicism and self-control. I doubt there are many more left in her mould. Charles seems to have quietly done quite a bit behind the scenes, but there is no way he could hope to fill her shoes. The times they are a’changin’. R.I.P. Queen Elizabeth II.

Don't know what it's like your side of the pond MH, but here it is wall-to-wall Royal Family and everything that goes with it. Trump does not feature at all at the moment. This whole thing is going to go on for at least two weeks, if not longer.

I must confess to finding it all quite fascinating myself. There may well be strong anti-monarchy sentiments in several quarters in the UK, but it certainly appears as though the British people, for the most part, feel a certain ownership of the royals and that there’s some sense of security in witnessing all the pomp and ceremony. A certainty that wouldn’t be there if they had to get used to a different clown every couple of years as the only leadership on which to hang their collective hat. Is it enslavement? I don’t know – I think people like something they can be sure of, even with occasional missteps, bad marriages, and other peccadilloes, and despite the gazillions of GBP going into all the pageantry. Or maybe it’s because it’s my heritage too – who knows!? I did wonder to myself why they couldn't just send an email instead of the whole proclamation malarky, LOL! But then that would have been a damp squib of note and relegated things entirely to the practical which doesn't have much sensory appeal! Anyway – watching the balances of power shift and affections transfer is so interesting to me – there’s so much going on from a world point of view as well … so very many facets – the whole thing is going to be analysed in the minutest detail by various parties with equally varied opinions. Whatever they say – it’s history in the making.
Saw a segment with Joan Armatrading who has been involved with The Prince’s Trust for many years and speaks with high regard, of Charles, who interestingly seems not at all like the cold fish he purportedly was at one point. A good deal of deliberation has gone into all of this too - well rehearsed. The furore will wane in due course, no doubt.

Well boom! Stage 6 load shedding. That's a mere two steps before chaos descends entirely. Nine hours yesterday - plays merry hell with appliances and devices. They don't like it. Nor do our water pumps which is a bit of a problem. Eish. I dunno. Anyway - the sun is shining, so there's that!
