There's no accounting for taste!!! The Final Cut is a masterpiece - pure and simple. Michael Kamen's piano plays a big part in the overall mood of the album. And Roger's lyrics are just superb.

A lot of people don't 'get' The Final Cut.

When I rise to power those people will be sterilised!

ROD STEWART  "foolish behaviour"  cd, 1980.

from the box set...
tenth studio album, seventh i own but fifth from the box set...
of the ones so far from the box set this is the weakest so far...
its also the first release where Rod wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks...
a huge letdown after the last few but still pretty good...
mostly rock with a couple of ballads thrown in...
i had totally forgotten about the single "passion" as i hadnt heard it in decades and it is the best thing on here (good or bad!)...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

tracks:

1.   better off dead  **
2.   passion  ***
3.   foolish behaviour  **
4.   so soon we change  **
5.   oh God i wish i was home tonight  *

R.E.M  "monster" cd, 1994

their nineth....
fast becoming my favorite of theirs...
lots of heavy guitars and not as catchy as a lot of their better known material...
hints of grunge, glam and even elements of punk on this one...
love just about the whole thing but if i had a complaint it would be that Stipe's vocals seem buried in the mix at times...
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

the huge hit:

and my personal fave from the album:
