And also,
You can see that he enjoys his job. Not simply going through the motions....

![]() PINK FLOYD "the final cut: a requiem for the post war dream" cassette/cd 1983. theyre twelfth . only one not to feature keys dude Richard Wright. was more fighting between band members during the recording of this album than WWII. a concept album re: the ultimate sacrifice Waters' dad made and how he perceived it was for nothing with the follow-up Falklands conflict. album still sold several million copies worldwide even though it received mixed reviews, either way, it is my equal second favourite Floyd album (with AMLOR) after The Division Bell. in hindsight , and im not a big fan, believe Waters' dominance/arrogance possibly stifled the other three to an extent over the years but.... I LOVE THIS ALBUM favourite: love the drumming on this track. In my rear view mirror the sun is going down Sinking behind bridges in the road And I think of all the good things That we have left undone And I suffer premonitions Confirm suspicions Of the holocaust to come. The wire that holds the cork That keeps the anger in Gives way And suddenly it's day again. The sun is in the east Even though the day is done. Two suns in the sunset Hmm Could be the human race is run. Like the moment when the brakes lock And you slide towards the big truck "Oh no!" "Daddy, Daddy!" You stretch the frozen moments with your fear. And you'll never hear their voices And you'll never see their faces You have no recourse to the law anymore. And as the windshield melts My tears evaporate Leaving only charcoal to defend. Finally I understand the feelings of the few. Ashes and diamonds Foe and friend We were all equal in the end. "And now the weather. Tomorrow will be cloudy with scattered showers Spreading from the east with an expected high of 4000 degrees Celsius"

![]() BILLY JOEL "storm front" cd, 1989: eleventh of thirteen studio album. I own nine, maybe ten from memory. contains a couple of rockers, a few pop songs and ballads. seven of the ten tracks were issued as singles in an era when singles were actually singles and not simply streamed. another good album from Jelly Bowl. I LIKE THIS ALBUM favourite: love his vocal range in this one

^Lol! Jelly Bowl lives on. Excellent song. I like "Leningrad" too - written for Viktor Razinov - so powerfully poignant, most probably because it's true.
Chris de Burgh – Crusader. Just felt like it today. Some musical storytelling of a certain flavour. The man is not all “Lady in Red”, thank the gods, or at least he wasn’t – no idea of his later material. There were leanings then, for sure, but there was other, meatier material back in the Spanish Train days. There is sentimentality on this album, without question, and there is also quite exceptional song-writing IMHO - anyway, who doesn’t enjoy a little meander down the sentimental road now and then?! Possibly a lost opportunity in terms of exploring the Crusader theme to a fuller extent, but oh well …. fab musicians – the APP line up largely – Ian Bairnson on guitars, Stuart Elliot on drums, David Paton bass and vocals and Andrew Powell producing and arranging as well as playing piano. Shades of foreboding and of “Spanish Train” (which he references here) resurface on the surprisingly vibey and somewhat ominous “The Devil’s Eye” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21_dEetXK0I "Can you hear me, are you listening, has your programme disappeared? I can see you, I am watching you, I've been planning this for years I have blacked out your television, every station in the world is mine And there are millions who are just like you as you sit there, paralysed! I have some orders which you will follow, and there's nothing you can do 'Cos as you're looking at your T.V. screen, I am looking back at you…" Seldom that one hears the harp in rock. Skaila Kanga on said instrument, Curved Air’s Francis Monkman on the harpsichord and Chris Laurence double bass. Here, have some vinyl crackles – I didn’t like how some of the other YouTube clips sounded ![]() And the title track which is epic albeit a tale of a certain disillusionment – "...Then the fool said "Oh you wise men, you really make me laugh, With your talk of vast persuasion and searching through the past, There is only greed and evil in the men who fight today, The song of the Crusader has long since gone away, Jerusalem is lost, Jerusalem is lost, Jerusalem is lost Jerusalem." Time for some Al Stewart now - just in that kinda mood ... Time Passages

![]() PINK FLOYD "a momentary lapse of reason" cd, 1987. their thirteenth, my first on cd (well, purchased it the same day was The Wall). no conceptual thread here. love just about everything on this album. band is down to Gilmour and Mason, Wright being credited as an 'additional musician' and Waters, well he had left the band and trying to sue them, their label and everyone else he could think of. over the years ive have become a bigger fan of Gilmour than Waters and the more I read about Waters the more he comes across as an arrogant piece of crap who is only out for himself (sounds like Neil Young and Waters are in a photo finish for "biggest rock and roll asshole"). anyway, I love the sound Gilmour gets out of his guitar, very distinctive style. I LOVE THIS ALBUM from the album:

PAUL WELLER "as is now" cd/vinyl, 2005. his eighth solo set. only peaked at #4 in the UK, a failure by his standards. good solid rock album here. eclectic mix of rock, folk, ballads, funk on here. the last complete album Weller made IMO, after this he changed his band and started to go all experimental on me. I LOVE THIS ALBUM I come to you when you least expect I call to you to come with me now I ask of you to drop all things of absolution And whatever may be in your hands. All on a misty morning I come to you with love All on a misty morning I come to you, I come to you with love. I talk to you as a lover should With a voice close to your ear If I may get so near enough Oh, you might hear, what I hear. It was all on a misty morning I come to you with love All on a misty morning I come to you, I come to you with love. Let my hands be nimble Let my tongue be quick Let my loins move slowly Against your skin. Let my face and mind Disappear for a while Let my kisses rain Down like silk Let our spit and sweat Mingle into one Let it form a stream of union That would always run forever on. It would have no start and know no end It would have no start and know no end. All on a misty morning I come to with love All on a misty morning I come to you, I come to you with love.
