DAVE DAVIES "the great lost Dave Davies album" cd, 2019
no album cover art
was recorded back in 1969 but not released.
Pye label opting to release "Arthur" by the band (Kinks)
all songs have been released in dribs and drabs over the decades on various
reissues by the band as bonus tracks.
its the first time however that this has been released in its original form.
comes as a bonus disk as part of the 50th Anniversary release of the Arthur album.
never thought much overall of Dave as a vocalist and this does nothing to change that
however, the songs in their own right are strong enough to stand despite that.
in the linear notes for the album Dave acknowledges that he hasn't heard these tracks
in fifty years, Ray however is a bit more open, and I quote: "hearing Dave's songs after all
this time I find them quite moving because they were like the back story of what we were
going through at the time", unquote: his comments are still a bit cryptic IMO but what the heck.
I love half this album, like the rest of it.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

ELTON JOHN "honky chateau" cd 1972
Reggie's fifth.
top10 everywhere and #1 in the America.
album's tracks , for the most part, do have that "honky/honkytonk" sound.
could imagine Dr John and Allen Toussaint were probably influences on this one.
two singles lifted off this one, Honky Cat and Rocket Man.
fantastic album that saw Elton moving away from balladeer to rock 'n' roll superstar.

^Fab album.
I listened to Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic this morning. Some arresting songs, aside from Rikki ... Gosh - how good were they?

Managing to slot in another nostalgic listen before running away to work ...
LONG JOHN BALDRY - It Ain't Easy
Elton John produced one side, Rod Stewart the other. Elton's was the second. He plays piano on the album and Ronnie Wood also shows up here. Solid set of songs from a man with a great voice - would've been his birthday today - long gone.
The title track ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfpgZv6uedA
"Morning Morning" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vhqu7D8Dmk
"Flying" - written by Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart and Ronnie Lane ...

WINGS "at the speed of sound" vinyl/cd 1976
initially bought the vinyl back in 1980/81 off the back of loving
London Town, Back To The Egg and McCartney-II,
hated this album with a passion except a couple of tracks.
my pinion has remained the same over the last 39 years...
until now, just played it and it finally gelled for me...
what a beautiful little album, lots of little gems (rough nuggets) on it
which I never saw until now (sort of like the trees for the forest thing...)
so, I FINALLY LIKE THIS ALBUM
a little gem from the album: love Joe Walsh's vocals on this one.

THE BEATLES "a hard days night" cd/vinyl 1964
their third studio album
doubles as a soundtrack to their first movie.
also, their first album with no covers.
#1 everywhere back in the day
album sold inexcess of 10 million copies worldwide in 64-65.
this is pure pop perfection from The Fabs before they went all
experimental on us just one year later and turned the world upside down again
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
could have picked anything off this one to post so I randomly picked this one:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
