Spotify listen:
went off these guys three albums ago
getting too pretentious and self-righteous for my liking
anyway,
thought i'd give this, their eighth album a go
two disks
Disk 1 opens up with an orchestrated instrumental, pretentious?, maybe.
next five tracks include a pseudo Gospel song, one called 'daddy' that I could
hear Waters doing, something that sounded like it was possibly recorded in one of those
'make your own record' booths ala NY's "a letter home" album
Arabesque an alt-pop/mid-east tune
disc one ends off with an almost church hymn sounding tune.
disc 2, opening track "guns", some F-bombs in this folky tune, a rant against, you guessed it, guns
second track, full of 'woo-hoos', on par with that horrible paradise song
three, four and five, acoustic almost folky tunes
six, title looks Arabic???, starts off piano, then goes almost avant-garde on me
seventh track has the old familiar Coldplay sound as does the final track
its not great by any stretch of the imagination but the band are heading in the right direction IMO
it will probably end up as a last minute purchase for that fact alone
the new single
