What Are You Listening To?
Rainbow's live masterpiece 'On Stage'. Mr. Blackmore's finest moment. Incredible guitar work on this. Just felt like blowing out the cobwebs today. In the mood for some honest rock n roll. The neighbours aren't going to be happy. To be followed by ACDC's 'Back in Black'. Hee-Haa! Praise the Lord and pass the volume control.....

At the moment it's Ismael Lo - Jammu Africa - an absolute masterpiece. Not a bad track on it. Don't understand a single bloody word he's singing but even so it's just fantastic to let this one just flow over you. Magical stuff.

If you want an African CD to add to your collection this is the one to get. Plain bloody brilliant.

STEVE HILLAGE  "L" cd, 1976:

Prog Rock dude...
I got this one in a bundle purchase of secondhand cds a while ago
along with four other of his...
so, six tracks, three of which are covers, one a Beatles cover, the others Donovan covers...
love four of the tracks, dislike the other two...
album works well, looking forward to hearing the others I purchased
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Sting - Songs from the Labyrinth - I bought this some time ago and it's basically medieval music. Most of it composed by one John Dowland. Have to say I just can't get into it at all. Tried once before, gave up, and thought I would try again. I don't like it at all. I gave up again. Still it might appeal to some members. Just not this one.

Sting really went off the rails for a long period from1990-ish through to a couple of albums ago IMO...

actually, not sure if "off the rails" is the correct term,
I think his pretentious, cocky, self indulgent personality took over his judgement totally and the result was a series of bewildering albums like the one you have Jerome...

Ian Anderson - Rupi's Dance (Rupi is his cat). Some amusing liner notes as well - like this one

I have several Steve Hillage albums and find them all great to listen too.....Steve has a very distinctive sound and always reminds me of that 70s hippy time which was encapsulated at Virgin records in the UK.

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

Listening no doubt triggered because I've been watching the Chernobyl series. Not sure how I feel about this one yet - his previous album, Соль (The Salt), I like a lot despite not understanding a word. He seems to have got quite a bit gruffer here - music's good though.

This track, "Сякухачи" literally translates as Syakuhachi, which is a Japanese bamboo flute, and voila - there it is! Courtesy of one Clive Stanley Bell. As with The Salt, Mel Collins shows up too, as does Richard Thompson and several others, including Mr Eno. Sort of Celtic meets the East kinda thing going on - similar sounds. Hmmm - will probably grow on me!
