Spotify listen:
ive heard of Stravinsky (probably, without knowing, even heard bits of his music)...
ive heard of "a soldiers tale" (but not heard it)…
ive heard of Roger Waters (even heard and own some of his material)…
anyway,
this is Waters narrating the story to a classical music backdrop...
there are three character parts, the soldier, the devil and the narrator, all played
by Waters....
he has a great voice, expression and vocal tones for narration...
I never lost my interest in this 80 minute narration once on any occasion...
although not about his father, whom he has recorded about since and after the late 1970s,
it is about loss and return during and after war...
this is a very good album, but I cant help thinking he could have written and recorded something
original, like an expansion of "the final cut" in this style...
superb album...
something Ruby and Jerome could probably sink their teeth into.
