Count Basie - Ken Burns Jazz - 2000

This Ken Burns Jazz series was awesome. It was a PBS documentary series that was aired around 2000 I guess. I'm sure the DVD's are available for that and the CD's cover 22 different jazz artists that pretty much created the genre in it's true form. The Count was one of them, and although this could barely scratch the surface of his catalogue, it serves well as an introduction. Material goes from the mid 30's to the late 50's. Some awesome youtube live clips available too, both early and later years.

I like this album

Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits

I mentioned that I'd ordered a Peter Green era Best of to Robbie that I work with. Yesterday he handed me a package of nine PG/Fleetwoods CDs, and this is the first of them to get an airing.

Went for this one as it contains Man of The World which I've fallen for in a big way.

Cracking compilation...

I'm more the other way round, Ed.

Mrs Tiggi got me into the LA Fleetwoods 25 years ago, & I think they've made some fabulous music. It's only now that I'm getting round to the early stuff.

So much music to discover...

I'm with Ed on this one Tigger. although I do like some of the later stuff. Probably also because I remember Christine McVie as Christine Perfect in her earlier band, Chicken Shack. Her singing always did more for me than Stevie Nicks' singing did!
There is an album floating around of the original band 'blues' line-up playing 'live' at the Boston Tea Party Club in 1970 on the CASTLE Communication label from 1989 called Fleetwood Mac: The BLUES COLLECTION that I picked up for a few dollars back in the early nineties.

"Dream A Little Dream of Me" by Louis Armstrong. This reminds me why I prefer the sound of the trumpet to the saxophone.

Peter Green Splinter Group - The Best of Peter Green Splinter Group

Enjoyed this very much.

Laid back Blues, and although Green's voice may not be the thing of beauty it once was, his guitaring is exemplary.

Classy & nicely recorded.
