Depeche Mode are an English synthpop band, founded in 1980, originally from the town of Basildon, Essex, United Kingdom. They are one of the most enduring and successful bands to have emerged during the 80s, and particularly from the new wave/new romantic era. The band name is derived from a French fashion magazine, Dépêche mode, which means "fashion dispatch." The band have been highly influential in the electronic dance music scene, especially synthpop

I bought 'A Broken Frame' purely because I liked the front cover of the vinyl release. I absolutely hated the music. Sorry, just never been a fan of this band. Very little in the music to interest me. I believe they have quite a cult following though. One of their members released a solo electronic album recently - it was even worse than Depeche Mode. Enough said. I'll pass on this one.

Release date of a new album "Spirit" - March 17! Lead single âWhereâs the Revolutionâ is coming this Friday.
I know this band have been highly influential, but I have never liked them either. Much of that has to do with that song "Just Can't Get Enough", which was played to death on release and which I hated from the word go.
I'm prepared to admit that some of their songs are not as banal as that one, but if I want synth-pop I'll go for someone like Pet Shop Boys, or Tears For Fears.
