Barack Obama - Dreams From My Father - 1995



Written before any thought of being President. Memoirs of a man seeking his place in the world. Is he black or white?
Raised mostly by his white grandparents he felt he never fit in and always had black friends.
Relocating to Chicago for his work as a community organizer. One thing about this he never mentions is where his paycheck came from.
I was curious to know that but never found out. Never feeling any accomplishment in the field he decided to pursue law school.
Before that goal was a trip to his fathers birthplace of Kenya which was the most interesting part of the book.
And that's where it ended.

you have to put yourself there people
upper class family struggles through life, love and death
those were the good old days

I finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern a couple of weeks ago (maybe my 2nd most fav book behind The Book Thief?), now i'm reading The Circle by Dave Eggers.

when the gassing began in full force

Hugo Award winner (science fiction)
Had to pick this up because I just watched the Amazon series that was adapted from the novel.
I figured reading the book would help me understand what the series was about.
A fantasy world where the bad guys won WWII.
The U.S. is divided into Germany and Japan ruled, with a neutral zone in the middle.
Within the book is a man who writes a book where the good side wins the war.
This book is banned by the Germans.
Different story lines develop throughout, weaved into the above
Hard to follow for me, the book and the series.
Now I will have to watch the series again to try and understand what the book was about.

resume includes working for former House Speaker Tip O'Neil
the book is an attempt to tell us how politics is played
book would be good for a newbie to the game
most of us are not that

Pulitzer Prize winner
very well written story of farm life in the Midwest during the depression years
life was hard when rain didn't cooperate
covers the first year when the family relocated
mother, father, 3 daughters
book only includes 10-15 characters which was good for me
some novels have so many that I can't remember who is who

2nd bio of the Princess from this man
the first was a huge success
this one not so much
have never understood my countries fascination with the Royals
and none more so than lady di
this is all about her later years after the failed marriage became public
reveals a lot about the woman who was just getting back into who she truly was
when fate intervened
as usual the conspiracy theories flew, and still do
none ever panned out
she just died in a car crash
end of story
