So back in April Mistur released their long awaited sophomore album. I think it's very good, it has many great guitar leads, though it doesn't quite live up to the debut, and occasionally the songs feel a little directionless and not to the point: meandering if you will. My favourite from this is probably the track they pre released more than a few years before the full albums release, called; "The Sight" which I think sounds like if Opeth went pagan black metal for an epic song. It took a bit for this album to sink in for me, it at first seemed a little too try hard at being epic and subsequently felt dull, but as I let it sink in more stuff made sense and it became a real grower for me.

Another great recco! I saw Opeth and Katatonia here two years ago! I love Opeth ...a little bit disappointed with their last two albums...straight ahead prog rock as opposed to black metal folk music leanings on their previous masterpieces!

I haven't heard Opeth's newest stuff, though I think I might like it since I still like straight up prog-rock, but I can see how it could be disappointing for people who liked their earlier stylistic blend.
How do you think In Memoriam compares to Attende? I think Attende is much better, though In Memoriam still has its moments.
Speaking of bands who've abandoned their roots; have you heard the english band called Code? They went from proggy black metal to prog rock. Both styles which they do well, but I wish they'd put out another Resplendent Grotesque for old time's sake.
