Love the old stuff!

Hi everyone:

I'm looking for folks who love the music of tin pan alley, the 1930s and 40s, and would like to talk about it. My favourite instrumental is Artie Shaw's "Begin the Beguine". Among vocalists I like early Sinatra, Allan Jones, Vic Damone, Jane Powell, the Charioteers. Love "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and "Where or When" among countless others.

I don't know much about this style of music but I used to frequent a coffee shop-come restaurant in Cape Town, South Africa called Roxy Coffee that used to play all the old numbers. It was a great little place and it had a unique atmosphere to it. I miss that place.
