ive been listening to this one on constant rotation in the can in the last week and a bit since I bought it..
so here's the verdict from someone new to the music of The Eagles....

lots of lovely harmonies and melodies...
nice tunes for the most part...
cool lyrics...
only thing that really lets it down for me really is the reprise of "wasted time" straight after the real track...
I dunno, maybe the reprised version was the opening track on side two of the original vinyl release,
either way, I simply don't think that track adds anything to the album as a whole...
im not sure, but some of you may be surprised by which track is my favourite track off this one,
I loved it first time I heard it a week or so ago and still, after constant airings, nothing comes close for me!
some very good songs on this album and some absolute classic tracks also. no wonder it won a couple of Grammys for
'record of the year' (hotel California) and 'vocal arrangement' (new kid in town) only to be pipped at the post by the Mac's "rumours"
for album of the year...
a fantastic album and I guess that makes me the 32,000,001'st person to buy it, better late than never IMO LOL!

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

worst track: wasted time (reprise)
best track: the last resort

I just realised I wrote..."constant rotation in the CAN",
What I really meant was...."constant rotation in the CAR"...LMAO.

I still prefer America's first three albums over HC, I will get more albums of theirs though,
and The Last Resort will take something special to top it for me.

Alan Parsons Project - Vulture Culture. I haven’t ever really spent much time listening to this before although it’s part of my collection – guess I had just dismissed it as being of lesser interest in the shadow of their much weightier offerings. I think it went a bit pear-shaped with the concept, the basis of which is exactly what the title says, so the end result is all a bit cycnical and jaded. That being said, I’ve found that as far as pop goes (not much rock here at all) there are some great hooks scattered about and the usual suspects deliver with aplomb, as always – Ian Bairnson’s guitar, Eric Woolfson sang a couple of tracks, as did Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek and Chris Rainbow. I haven’t heard the whole remastered album which contains some previously unreleased bonus material.

The track that is most destined to become an earworm, IMHO – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIzorC8u4Tw

From the bonus material on the remastered edition – and very succinct and true it is too …. Eric Woolfson’s vocals ….

Wishbone Ash – Here to Hear, their fifteenth studio album, released in 1989, and the last by the original line-up. Frankly, I prefer their older stuff.

Here, they seem to have absorbed the flavours of the decade; the late eighties - not a wonderful time for music, although that’s a subjective comment, and it must be said that there are always, without exception, exceptions! The guitar work is still powerful and very well executed, both leads and the base which is deep and dark, but there’s something a little bit too ordinary about this album, and they really should have been better than that. To be fair, it’s not an entirely terrible listen, just lacking in imagination.

The only instrumental on the album which just happens to be nice and funky – “In the Case” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPYn_I9umTA

The lead track …
