I've heard from a lot of my friends that Beats headphones are overpriced, and that you're paying for the advertising more than quality. I'm not really an audiophile, but am trying to get more information on the subject. I found this website, which offers a fairly comprehensive breakdown of the issue, but I still would like the opinions of the MusicDiscussions forums!

Stay well away from those headphones - they are just a marketing gimmick. Stick with companies that heve been designing headphones for years, not a company that was created just to exploit the current listening habits of the youth. Try Sennhesier, AKG etc. and remember good headphones don't boost any frequency - they reproduce the music the way it was intended to be heard. They also don't bugger up your ears either.

I have Sennheiser HD-700s and another set of custom made phones. I also have a pair of bose noise cancelling phones for airplane use. I listened to Beats at Best Buy and I wasn't impressed, but they might be good for some types of music.
Overall I think Sennheiser has the best general useage phones, there are others out there but you have to listen to them because they are tuned for specific types of music.

Good afternoon fellow music lovers!
I wanted to pose this question to the General Music community and see what your views are...
Do you believe that Beats headphones are overpriced in general, or do you think they are worth the price tag?

theyre way overpriced IMO,
ive listened through them and don't like the sounds they produce,
to my ears, theyre no better than $20 el cheapo sets from K-Mart.
I find it strange the the designer, Dr. Dre, didn't take more care in the sound quality or the comfort actor when desining them
because his production in music is precise.

I think that beats headphones are defintley over priced and your just paying for the brad name. I recently purchased some skull candy head phones for a reasonable amount and I think they work just as well as the beats headphones. What does everyone else think ?
