What Are You Listening To?
I have a couple of their albums....fantastic band IMO,
intelligent lyrics and love Stipes vocal qualities...

I didn't know he was a ass, he seemed alright on the one occasion ive seen him interviewed though....
but yeh, it sometimes puts me off an artist's music when I find then to be a 'donkey rectums' also.

back to the Lou Reed posts MH.....

I assume you've finished posted the albums you own, right?
anyway,
somehow,i thought you had that abysmal collaboration he did with Metalica a few years ago,i guess not!

the music press hated that one, both sets of fans hated it also from everything ive read about it....strange, because i'd have thought that project should have been an all-round winner

THE WAR ON DRUGS "lost in the dream" cd, 2014

career stats:
studio albums...............3
ep's.............................2
singles.........................2

this album.........................#26 US...#28 AU...#18 UK...#3 Belgium
singles:
"red eyes".........................#58 Belgium
"under the pressure"..........no chart action

another of those cds I occasionally pick up from albums that score high in those 'end of year' lists....
just about every end of year list for 2014 had this one in their top10, so I took the chance....!
it bombed for me....these Philly boys can keep it if they call this freedom!
a lot of the vocals are indecipherable, much like the album my mates from Lanark made last year...
half the album sounds okay, but the other half doesn't come close....
I guess you could call this "ambient psychadelia" for want of a better term...
either way......

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: red eyes
best track: eyes to the wind

tracks:

1...under the pressure **

3...suffering **
4...an ocean in between the waves **
5. disappearing *
6...eyes to the wind **
7...the haunting idle *
8...burning *
9...lost in the dream **
10.in reverse *

I actually enjoyed the LANARK album! Dam those Aussies are talented...also great metal bands are pouring out from down under! As for War on Drugs, I previously criticised the album,,,a long boring drone that sounds like Dylan at times ( I love Bob) by the way! I cannot get my head around the fact that Lost in the Dream received high praise from record reviewers and was number one for 2014 on a few lists!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
