Busy listening to 'Evening Star' by Brian Eno & Robert Fripp. Someone on the site introduced me to this - can't remember who, but thx anyway - great album.

I stopped off at the pub on the way home from work today around 9pm or so and while I was there, there was a newspaper open on the counter with an article about Martin Gore - some guy from Depeche Mode, who has released an instrumental electronic album called 'MG'. The critics love it apparently. Busy listening to this the moment via YT. Some elements I like and some I don't. At least it's different from the normal 'EDM' crap. It has some depth to it. There's some thought behind it. Too early to call but I will give it another whirl tomorrow.

Martin Gore is/was the primary writer/vocalsit for Depeche Mode....
i like their early material,say, up until the early 1990s
and there is the odd instrumental track on the B-Side of their singles, some were okay,others just a monotonous loop of the same short tune.

just because the critics love it, it doesnt mean its good Jerome....for some reason the critics have always raved about his work, its like Gore is the 'darling' of the UK music press.

Yes, I think you are right - I have listened to the whole album again this morning and I don't agree with the critics at all. It's pretty average to me. Can't see what the fuss is about really. There is no track on this album that I would like to hear again.
