What Are You Listening To?

DAVID GILMOUR  "rattle that lock" cd, 2015.

his fourth solo set.
bits of jazz, blues, rock and that unmistakable guitar sound.
ten tracks, three of which are instrumentals which I like a lot.
loving just about everything on this album,
interesting that the whole concept (spark) that set Gilmour on the road to recording
the album was a few seconds of 'elevator music' he heard in France if im not mistaken.
it was my #1 album of 2015.
and the artwork, well up there in my list of favourite album covers also.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

could have gone for just about any track from the album but i think this one is the
stand out track for me:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Hey Crazy - the few seconds of music at the start of the album is the sound played before an announcement is made on station platforms in France.

Today's pick - such a great groove - https://youtu.be/V-0dfuChZw8

GONG  "shamal" cd, 1976.

UK Proggies.
sixth album.
six tracks, three of which are instrumentals.
seems to be a bit more experimental than the other one
I own and the two Hillage albums I have.
not sure whether or not I like or dislike this one.

one of the vocal tracks:

Yes - Turn of the Century - a magnificent piece of work - highly complex - and written by the drummer, Alan White, even though there are very few drum or percussive parts on the track. A unique piece of music. Never tire of it.

Something comforting - Colin Bass's At Wild End - the album is a bit wafty and slow but that's ok for now. The title track is great ... love it ...

To be quite honest I am now officially sick of hearing about the Coronavirus - time to escape. Here's where I am going to today - https://youtu.be/R7J7zAHfuek
