UK charts overview for 5th February:

singles:

Zayn’s Pillowtalk has worked its magic over this week’s Official Singles Chart, as the former One Direction singer’s debut solo single lands straight in at Number 1.The track enters in pole position with impressive combined sales of 112,000 (including 4.97 million streams), making Pillowtalk the fastest-selling single of 2016 so far.
Zayn fends off competition from Jonas Blue’s Fast Car, which climbs a place to 2 this week, and last week’s Number 1 Stitches by Shawn Mendes falls to 3. The Canadian was surprised earlier this week with his Official Number 1 Award during his debut TV performance on BBC’s The One Show.

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Danish soul-pop band Lukas Graham charge 18 spots to Number 6 with 7 Years, and Craig David lifts four places to Number 10 with When The Bassline Drops. The climb gives David his first Top 10 in eight years, since 2007’s Hot Stuff (Let’s Dance) hit Number 7. Click here to check out his full chart history.
Jason Derulo’s Get Ugly continues to scale the chart, moving from 25 to 17 this week, as does Zara Larrson’s Lush Life, up eight places to 19.
Further down the tally, Drake’s new single Summer Sixteen makes its debut at 23, Charlie Puth’s One Call Away enters the Top 40 at 29, and Sia’s Chandelier is back in the Top 40 at 35 thanks in part to former Liberty X singer Kevin Simm’s rendition on last week’s episode of The Voice.

albums:

Following his passing in January, David Bowie's star continues to shine on this week's Official Albums Chart.
The music icon has seen off a strong challenge from Sia to claim the Number 1 spot for a fourth week – but with a different album.
Bowie has become the first act to knock themselves off the top of the Official Albums Chart in nearly six years, as his Best Of Bowie compilation – originally released in 2002 – has replaced his final studio album Blackstar at Number 1.
Michael Jackson was the last act to achieve this feat, following his death in 2009, when his The Essential retrospective replaced hits collection Number Ones at the summit.

Blackstar slips to Number 2, meaning Bowie is the first artist since 2011 to occupy the Numbers 1 and 2 spots on the Official Albums Chart. Adele was the most recent, when 21 and 19 dominated the Top 2.
Midweek leader and highest new entry Sia rounds off a very close Top 3. Only 1,213 chart sales separate her album This Is Acting from the chart-topping Best Of Bowie, which leads seven entries in the Top 40 for the late, great star. See all David Bowie's UK hit singles and albums in his Official Chart archive.

Elsewhere, Adele's 25 falls two to Number 4, while Justin Bieber's Purpose slides a slot to 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Charlie Puth scores his Official Albums Chart debut with Nine Track Mind going straight in at Number 6, while Rihanna's long-awaited eighth studio album Anti is new at 7.
US metal band Dream Theater score a new Official Chart personal best with 13th album The Astonishing, at Number 11, and Bloc Party are new at 12 with their fifth album Hymns.
Scottish rockers Runrig are new at 26 with The Story, while Shawn Mendes' Handwritten leaps 15 places to return to the Top 40 at 29, and Sia's 1000 Forms Of Fear also makes a comeback, rocketing 32 spots to land at Number 30 today.

UK 'singles' chart overview or 12th February 2016:

Congratulations to Lukas Graham, who top this week’s Official Singles Chart with 7 Years. The Danish quartet’s debut UK release climbs five places to claim the top spot, racking up combined sales of 105,000, including 3.65 million streams.
Not many Danish acts have reached the top of the Official Singles Chart in its 64-year history; the last to manage it was Aqua’s Turn Back Time in May 1998 (Aqua’s lead singer Lene Nystrøm is in fact Norwegian, but the band were signed to a Danish record label). Before that, it was Whigfield’s Saturday Night, which debuted at Number 1 September 1994.
7 Years also receives a Silver certification from music trade body the BPI today, for reaching overall combined sales of more than 200,000.

Lukas Graham push last week’s leader - Zayn Malik’s Pillowtalk – down to Number 2, and Jonas Blue & Dakota’s Fast Car is at 3.
Rounding off this week’s Top 5 are Rihanna’s Work, which holds at 4, and Shawn Mendes’ Stitches at 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Little Mix land their eighth Top 10 single this week with Jason Derulo collaboration Secret Love Song, jumping four spots to Number 7, and following their Super Bowl half-time show set, Coldplay’s Adventure Of A Lifetime rebounds seven places to 11. The band’s Beyonce collaboration Hymn For The Weekend also makes a big jump today, up 37 places to 23.
Further down the chart, Adele’s When We Were Young re-enters at 33, Twenty One Pilots make their UK Top 40 debut at Number 34 with Stressed Out, and Me, Myself & I by G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha makes its first appearance in the Top 40 at Number 40.

UK 'albums' chart overview for 12th February 2016:

A Number 1 is always worth the wait, and Coldplay's patience has been rewarded today as they finally score a seventh chart-topping album with A Head Full Of Dreams. The news comes days after the band's dazzling performance at the Super Bowl 50's halftime show, where they shared the stage with Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson and Beyoncé.
That takes Coldplay's chart stats to seven studio albums for seven Number 1 albums here in the UK.

A Head Full of Dreams was released back in December 2015, where it was kept off Number 1 by the mighty force of Adele's 25. This week, though, it's Adele's turn to sit in second place as she climbs two spots to Number 2.
Last week's Number 1, David Bowie's hits collection Best Of Bowie, slides to Number 3, while Justin Bieber's Purpose nudges back up one to Number 4 and Bowie's Blackstar falls three places to 5.
[h=4]New entries[/h]There are seven new entries, and two albums returning, on the Top 40 this week. Highest debut goes to legendary Elton John – Wonderful Crazy Night is new at Number 6 and gives him a 31st Top 10.
Foxes scores a second Top 20 album with All I Need, new at Number 12, and veteran rockers The Cult bag a seventh, with Hidden City at 19.

Swedish superstar DJ Eric Prydz scores a new Official Albums Chart personal best, as Opus goes in at Number 23, and American singer-songwriter Chris Isaak is new at 32 with First Comes The Night.
Rapper Future is new at 34 with EVOL, and Rod Stewart's Another Country returns to the Top 40, climbing nine places to 35. Sunderland rockers Field Music go in at Number 36 with Commontime, and at 40, Mumford & Sons' Wilder Mind makes a return.
