What Are You Listening To?
MASTODON - Crack the Skye (2009)

As some of you know I appreciate all music if it's good and appeals to me. Having said that I have been listening to a lot of metally music lately. This album from the Atlanta quartet is very accessable and very good! Mastodon are one of the popular metal bands around these days and they don't disappoint. A friend of mine recently saw them live and they are a very good band in the sludge/progressive metal vein. A great album to listen to on headphones while walking!

Oblivion Beckons is the third studio album by Charleston, West Virginia heavy metal band
Byzantine. It was released on January 22, 2008. According to vocalist Chris "OJ"
Ojeda, the band "stripp[ed] down some things like the vocals for a more
aggressive style and ... [went] out on a limb on some other things [they] have
never tried before." Ojeda also described Oblivion Beckons as being the band's
most varied album.
from AllMusic review ...rating 4.5

Simply outstanding is the combined propensity of "cookie monster "(lol MH's quote...I like it !) death
growl scream vocals and interplay with clean straight vocals, jazz guitar solos
and some nice acoustic guitar solos. There are a few spoken word media passages on the album and tons of heavy guitar riffs and solos.

A very good well rounded heavy metal/hard rock release with good melodic songs and an intelligent well thought out production !

WOLFMOTHER "cosmic egg" cd,2009. #3AU, #12 CAN, #16 US, #35UK.

Aussie trio's second album, not as good as their self titled debut set but still using the same retro 1970s hard rock riffs ala Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath...
touches of loose psychadelia metal sounds also and a couple of ballady type tracks.
that aside, still a fine rock record and the vocalist has the vocals to carry off those sounds as listed above.
all up, a good record to get the blood pumping through the veins, but i found its not an instantly likeable album taking several listens for it to grow on me.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

I'm listening to a band on youtube that i haven't heard very much of yet but they are awesome! The band's name is Cradle of Filth and I totally will be buying some of their CDs.
The first song I listened to was Nymphetamine. The contrast with Dani's growls and Liv Kristine's clear vocals is amazing.

Another really cool track is from their Midian album called Her Ghost in the Fog.

Thanks! And yeah, i definitely want those albums! That definitely would be cool stuff for Halloween and so would Helloween, lol! Thats another really cool metal band.
Right now I'm listening to the 2nd album from Of Mice & Men, The Flood. Their an American metalcore band and their style is similar to Attack Attack!. The Flood was made without Roush (of Sky Eats Airplane) but it really owns! Here are some of my favorite tracks.

Btw, I'm totally liking the bands I'm seeing in this thread. Wolfmother and Mastodon are 2 I've heard a lot and they really own.

This particular band and song are still virtually unknown by most listeners today. I originally thought this song (Godless) was done by the band Saliva and I liked to never found out who the original artist (U.P.O.) was.

U.P.O. - "Godless".
