What Are You Listening To?
Hy Guys!

I'm listening to my friends band, called Franklin Mods. They're a hungarian indie band, with impressive guitar themes and with even sometimes some psichedelic themes. They got always the attention of the audience with that kind of interesting but dance&party-friendly music. You should definietely check them!

The concert video hasn't the best quality, but I'm pretty shure, that you will like songs, like Dialectic or I guess she left!

KID ROCK "kid rock" cd, 2003

studio albums.....10
singles...............44

this album........#8 US...#79 AU
singles:
"feel like makin' love"....no chart action
"Jackon,Mississippi"......no chart action
"cold and empty"..........no chart action
"i am".........................no chart action
"single father"..............no chart action

Mr.Ritchie's sixth studio album...
still trying to shake off the shackles of his earlier rap career on this one with a couple of rap tracks..both of which I hate with a passion!
elsewhere, we see some southern rock, alternative country, a couple of ballads and a couple of covers...
the covers are of Bob Seger's "hard night for sarah" and Bad Company's "feel like makin' love"...
a few samples used on here:
track #1...everyday people/nutbush city limits
track #2...some kind of wonderful
track #8...hot blooded/sunshine of your love
track #9...we will rock you
track #10.la grange
track #11.in a gadda da vida
some feral language on this one also, especially the first few tracks...the typical rap words that begin with "F" and "B", and of course the title of track #2...
album does get better in the second half and this is the Kid Rock I know and love.
unfortunately though...

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

what a great album
the bands third reaching #8 here
except for the East St. Louis instrumental and Through With Buzz, I love it
the Rikki single sold the album as it hit #4 here
wiki shows the title track being a single also but only made it to #57

I'll give it a bump

DAVID BOWIE "heroes" cd, 1977

career stats:
studio albums........27
singles.................121

this album............#3 UK...#6 AU...#35 US
singles:
"heroes"........................#12 UK...#36 AU
"beauty and the beast"....#39 UK

album #12 from Mr.Bowie...
and the second in his 'Berlin Trilogy'....
Paul Weller was influenced by this one when he made "sonic kicks" and "saturns pattern"...
this album is so alternative I believe it would still be considered 'out there' if it was recorded today...
typical of Bowie from that period, lots of strange lyrics for the average artist, but the norm for him...
the music is typically Bowie, very uncommercial and definitely not radio friendly even by todays standards of pop radio stations...
so I can only imagine how this was received by the pop press back in the day...
the only thing that lets this one down as an album for me is the our instrumentals that really aren't music but sounds and that lets the album
down in the grading for me(but it does contain one of my top5 Bowie tracks) and that is why...

DAVUD BOWIE "low" cd, 1977.

career stats:
studio albums.......27
singles................121

this album..............#2 UK...#10 AU...#11 US
singles:
"sound and vision"..#3 UK...#74 AU...#69 US
"be my wife"..........no chart action

Mr.Bowie's eleventh studio album...
"low" may be the title of the album but to me it means the low in terms of quality material...
the first of the so called Berlin Trilogy albums...
another four instrumentals on this one just like the follow up 'heroes',
but unlike 'heroes' theres very little for me to like...its a nothing album IMO...
even 'sound and vision' which is my favourite track on this one is possibly in the bottom five singles of his from the 1970s...
again, like 'heroes', this one was a big influence on Paul Weller's last two albums 'sonic kicks' and 'saturns pattern' and I
dislike those albums also!

DAVID BOWIE "lodger" cd/vinyl 1979

career stats:
studio albums.......27
singles................121

this album: #3 UK...#6 AU...#35 US
singles:
"boys keep swinging"...#7 UK...#85 AU
"DJ".........................#29 UK...#98 AU
"yassassin"...............no chart action
"look back in anger"...no chart action

I don't know why I didn't post this whist doing my "B" cd list...strange???
anyway,
Mr.Bowie's thirteenth studio set and the third in the Berlin Trilogy...
no stupid instrumentals on this one...
sort of a concept album of sorts with the first side of the vinyl about travel and the
second side relating to western culture as Bowie saw it back in 1979...
weird recording concept with this one also...
Bowie got his band to put away their instruments of choice and play instruments they knew but
never played as professionals ie: if they could play guitar but never on record they were told to do so...
he also had a lot of single line lyrics that he threw up in the air and the order he picked them up in was the order
in which completed various verses (mainly in Look Back In Anger/Fantastic Voyage/African Night Flight), he obviously tinkered
with them to make them more coherent in the process...
one song, "repetition", deals with the issue of domestic violence...that subject was taboo in western culture until a few short years
ago, but Bowie explored it in graphic detail on this album almost forty years ago...visionary or pushing the boundaries???!
this was the first album of his I ever bought on vinyl and it remains a firm favourite of mine to this day,
I cannot find anything wrong with it musically, lyrically or any other way...its almost perfect IMO, and its the album by which I
judge David Bowie as an artist...

I LOVE THIS ALBUM
