Some movies I recommend would be:
The Book Thief - It's a WWll movie about a girl who lives in Germany who loves books and whose adopted family tries to hide a Jewish man from being captured. It's tragic and makes me cry every time I watch it. I've read the book the film is based on, which is a tearjerker!
Let The Right One In - An interesting vampire movie about two young people who connect to each other and who are going through personal struggles. No sparkling vampires allowed

mile:
Ip Man - A martial arts film based on the life of Ip Man during WWI-era China, a martial artist mentor who became known for his famous student Bruce Lee. It's so good and Donnie Yen does a great job playing Ip Man.

The book thief, a great movie I watched less than a year ago... very recommendable and at times quite sad - so definitely a tearjerker
That Swedish movie, Let the right one in I haven't watched though... Sounds a bit like the Twilight movies - are they similar?

Yeah, The Book Thief is a great movie. Let The Right One In isn't much like Twilight, IMO.

A movie I have yet to see then... (Haven't actually seen any of the Twilight movies either, but know what they are about)
And this movie from 2007 I remember being a great movie if you enjoy music and in particular guitar music...
August Rush - an orphan boy discovers he has an innate and previously unknown ability on how to play the acoustic guitar - and there are actually some great harmonies heard - and this gift he then uses for different purposes

I remember how shocked everyone was when the accident happened during the Twight Zone movie with Vic Morrow.
I saw the movie. Could hardly make it through that one knowing what happened.

I watched Zootopia on Sunday and I loved it. A pretty good animated movie that came out this year.
