I remember seeing Preist and Maiden together a bunch in 1980-82 or so at venues all over New England, because every time I had the chance to go to a show, they would be in the area, with Maiden up first, then Rob and Priest. Neither band ever disappointed me... and I have stared at my watch at Dire Straits shows. But for my cash, Lemmy is the icon of icons.
You can live in staunch denile and mark me as your enemy, but I'm just a voice among the throng who want a brighter destiny, and say with me, "We are the New America!" -Greg Graffin

An acquaintance of mine at HMV said he saw an interview with Mikael in which he thinks it may be time to disband the use of death growls and go on to other adventures...namely a solo acoustic album ! He always throws in a beautiful folky tune....Harvest, Coil, Windowpane,,,,,in fact ther new album Heritage released last week has no scary grunts ( which I don't mind sometime ,,, listen to Cradle of Filth...lol.) I finally got my copy today and the album is fabulously incredible !!!!!

He certainly has a great clean singing voice !..... very knowledgeable of rock and folk from the 70s...Alice Cooper, Camel and Comus to name a few influences...where Opeth and Akerfeldt will go next is a mystery which makes Opeth very unique !

Opeth are touring this month in Canada.... one of the venues in Edmonton, Alberta with sister group Katatonia....have a great time evilB !!!!

My Opeth expert evilB, told me at his concerts, Akerfeldt plays music trivia back and forth with the audience, very personable and down to earth on stage.....I suspect ?

Who in the hay said that metal music is stupid and immature ....LOL !!!! There now exists a tremendous amount of Sophistication in metal music...you just have to do a lot of research to sift out the masters from the mediocre !!!!

A lot of metal musicians are very well versed in rock music and all other genres and to tell you the truth they say they want to "step it up a bit " and play metal ! These guys can play !!!!

I wanted something for my MP3 player while jogging that was a little heavier than ACDC so I went to metal !!!!! I go there from time to time for an energy boost, to be scared ....less (try listening to the group Aghast alone in the dark) and to be inspired by very talented musicians !!!!

I like all music and one genre I like from time to time is Metal...I don't think the word "Heavy" applies to it now because there are so many different genres IMHO !!!!! and many groups/artists go all over the place,,,,try Agalloch...now there's a GROUP !!!!!...they know how to play music !!!! mostly instrumental and incredible !!!!!!

Check it out and enjoy !...... or are we too old to listen to Heavy Metal now ....lol !!!! Yungins are totally blown away when I stop them on the street because they have an IN FLAMES T Shirt on and I discuss their album The Jester Race with them !!!!...lol.

" Variety is the spice of life !!!!"

and please don't call me a Metal Head !!!...lol.

Heritage really is a great album, I cannot stop listening to it. I miss Mike's growls but not to the point where I like the album less, it just makes it less familiar to me. It's a cool time to be afan of music. So many amazing bands/performers out there!

Now back to Lemmy, he's going to be touring next year with Megadeth, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. that is a serious 4. I believe most people who go will come with a new respect for all of these bands! I hope they come near me as I would not miss this bill, given the chance. No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith!
