Jerome Wrote:AC/DC - Rainbow - Deep Purple etc = hard rock. Metal is all those other nutballs that are constantly screaming, growling and making stupid noises. You can normally identify them by them album covers - lots of leather, metal, horror, blood and guts.
and what about "the fans" of that music, how would you describe them, knowing SteveO is one of them??????

lol...So called metal takes up about 20 percent of my time,,,progressive metal is where it's at...Opeth, Katatonia, Dream Theater, Steven Wilson, Devin Townshend, Tool, metal or heavy guitar music, folk music, some jazzy chops, mostly clean vocals, some blues riffs and rock tones....

Not to me. If anything Led Zep is a hybrid of blues and hard rock. Never ever regarded them as metal.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree with the others on this one Jerome...
And another example of confusion over what is "metal"....
JETHRO TULL won a Grammy for "best metal album"...
I saw an interview with IA a while back and hls answer to the question was...
" I've never ventured into metal territory, the Grammy people must have been hard up for a winner that year,I'm surprised Elton hasn't got one for his metal albums yet".

Let's bring SteveO back into the convo: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot do you call this from Strand of Oaks? I'm thinking in terms of heavily-Celtic hard folk-rock--I just know I like it a lot.:
