A masterpiece of a movie, I'd say. The acting, the photograpy, the plot, the music, the places, everything. It's one of my favourites also.

Yes. The culmination of the story. The inevitability of fate? The sadness involved in realizing that we are not masters of our destiny? That circumstances can be the greatest obstacle? The end of a damned love? And the music, doesn't it potray all that to the loftiest heights? My god, how beautiful that scene is. Beauty. No other words can describe it. And Gabriel Yared's music is genius.
