I know Bob Dylan well as a music listener. I am not a big fan of his but Bob Dylan is very loved in Minnesota where he was from. I remember doing a presentation on him and it was so stunning and it was unbelievable how great it was. I did not realise his greatness until I got older. Bob Dylan is a legend.

sadly, I've come to the conclusion recently that I actually really don't like Dylan.
I don't hate him or anything, but I just have to wonder why he's so much better known than Townes Van Zandt or Judee Still or someone like that

Bob Dylan's catalogue of songs is unsurpassed by no one in rock or folk !!!!!!!..his singing I'll admit is an acquired taste(I luv it) , his songs are strong lyrically and melodically and have been covered by countless artists !
His classic, among others, Like A Rolling Stone, is still popular today, 45 years later !

A lot of artists that I am aware of are very much influenced by Bob Dylan.

Juddee Still releasedonly two albums (her life was cut short, sadly) and both of which are leaps and bounds above anything Dylan recorded
I can't recommend them enough SteveO Wrote:Bob Dylan's catalogue of songs is unsurpassed by no one in rock or folk !!!!!!!..his singing I'll admit is an acquired taste(I luv it) , his songs are strong lyrically and melodically and have been covered by countless artists !

Bob Dylan's lyrics and songs have helped many other musicians over the years. It's amazing how many songs he wrote that were performed or recorded by others (some better than his versions). He displays one trait that is true of any major artist in whatever discipline they are working in (painting/sculpture etc) and that is that he is prolific in his output. The guy just does not seem to stop and that says to me that he believes in what he is doing. Totally committed. Like Van Gogh and Michaelangelo. (who he mentions in his lyrics). It's a passion with him, not just a job.
