Interesting point CP! ..................Traditionally speaking: it is not a compilation of previous tracks.......but in a way it is a kind of compilation:

At this point in their career, the Beatles were having relational problems............At one point during the White Album, Ringo left the band...........because things became so bad.!!.................Sgt Pepper had opened things up too and the Death of Brian...............The sessions here tended to be more fragmented as regards personal, and there were often two sessions or more going on at the same time....................As a result, you don't always have all four Beatles on each session but further:

Instead you tend to get

John supported by the other three

Paul supported by the other three

Just Paul

Just John and George

George and Eric Clapton

Ringo with George

etc

So I guess, you could say that for a percentage this is a compilation of works by four separate Beatles using the others as session men.Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.
