These are the lyrics of the folk song 'Maude' off my bands album, 'Meg's Hill.' Have a listen on my myspace http://www.myspace.com/jenstevensthehiccups
It's a tongue in cheek story about an old woman that likes a drink, written about a relative of mine lol :-)

Maude

The bluebells are swaying in the breeze,
'Cos they know that you are coming home to me,
The stream is running, over the hill,
The fish they are dancing, they know what will come to pass.

Then who is this figure, stumbling down the path?
The children are laughing they hardly dare to ask,
The curtains are twitching in the house over the road,
The old man he opens the door and then he explodes, into

"Maude, I think you've had too much to drink,
And I'm sure that there's something wrong in your head,
The grandchildren, they're here, they don't need to see this,
and I'm sure that the fairies would all like to go home to bed!"

Maude is drunk again the children take delight,
She's bright as a button and as high as a kite,
Now doing the polka with the kids from down the street,
She might be merry, but she can still keep a beat,

And the neighbours are shouting "That woman's go style!"
And Maude turns to greet them all with a smile,
They seem to forget that she's ninety-six,
But she knows how to dance, she can still get her kicks,
Yet he sings

"Maude, I think you've had too much to drink,
And I'm sure that there's something wrong in your head,
The grandchildren, they're here, they don't need to see this,
and I'm sure that the fairies would all like to go home to bed!"

He doesn't understand why she can't just,
Grow old gracefully,
Well it's all very well, having a laugh,
But causing a raucous in the street,
Well that's just ridiculous!

So if you want some fun and you're up for a laugh,
Just go and see Maude and she'll teach you how do dance,
She's got to have had whisky a plenty,
Soon you will be dancing dainty, as an elephant.

The bluebells are swaying in the breeze,
Cos they know that you are coming home to me,
The stream is running over Meg's Hill,
The fish they are dancing, they know what will come to pass.
