Michigan band formed in 1998 with their 5th album. The second album, Welcome, has been their most successful, reaching #17 on the U.S. charts, and it's off to a new label (Victory) for this effort. A rocky start for the band when Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst was introduced via a promo tape and promised to get the guys a contract. After taking to long to deliver, the band went on their own, which caused some friction. Never fear, who needs Fred? This one is promoted as a back to the basics, so I take it they left their original sound. Singles of Fractured and Release Me off of here have already been released. Too hardcore for me, but you head bangers might like it.

The Hurt Process- A Heartbeat Behind



British Metalcore Band (Now defunct).
Only about half way through the album at this point but actually rather enjoying it. Im not what you would call a 'true' metal fan at heart so usually struggle with bands outside of the general metal & thrash genres. A lot of the songs on the album have many melodic passages but a lot of the verses have pretty harsh vocals, ultimately reminding you that it is a metalcore album you're listening to! I do get the sneaky feeling though that this may be regarded as 'light' by proper metalcore fans, however, I remain oblivious!

Never have been crazy about this group. Don't hate them, just thought they were over rated. They did always do the grunge thing pretty good. Various things have kept them from a new release for 9 years. Solo stuff and legal issues with the label. Eighteen years they've been together and this is their sixth album. Seems like they picked up right where they left off, sounding like the same old STP. Just passes the grade for me.

California band formed in 1991 consisting of Jonah Matranga — vocals, guitar, Shaun Lopez — guitar, John Gutenberger — bass and Chris Robyn — drums, percussion. While beginning as hardcore metal, they have mellowed out somewhat. Have toured with Deftones and Incubus. This is their 4th album. The band hung it up in 1999, but must have run out of cash and reformed in 2008, this being the first release since then. While nothing exceeds the like mark, there are a few of those, but even more not making that, this just misses my passing grade. But it is the first new album listen of the month. Can't handle that home made video for the title track. Some nice audio porn on that last track.

Heaven Shall Burn's album "Invictus"
