It bothers me a bit that people speak of "Christian music" as though it were a music genre. "Gospel music" is probably a legitimate recognised genre, though I wish it had a different name because it really refers more to a particular style of singing. "Christian rap" though? "Christian metal"? I don't get it. If the instruments are played the same way as in a metal band, and the vocal style is the same, call it metal.

I call it both but we call it Christian because of the message.

I would have thought that was the purpose of a genre label. If you asked me what I listen to, would it be very informative if I said I listen to a lot of "agnostic music"?

Only thing I have to add is Christian music is just another meaning for Gospel which means good news which means Christ.
