concerts thread.
yeh,well...he was fantastic when i saw him and Crazy Horse a year or so ago...the guy can still do it...i just wsh he'd stop going off on stupid whimsical notions releasing stupid dumbass albums that simply confuse everyone.
wish he'd also stop putting out quantity and stick with quality material, you know, he has it in him when he wants to do it...Prairie Wind,Harvest Moon,Chrome Dreams,Living With War, from the last fifteen years, but he's also thrown in six or seven substandard albums also...

not sure if you know, but i heard on the radio the other day that Neil and wife Peggy have divorced after almost forty years of marriage...WTF?!?!, surely you'd be settled down and 'used to' eachothers annoying traits by then and settle into a peaceful, happy retirement(you know what i mean).

Wide-spread agreement on this. Here's a review of 2012's Americana to demonstrate further: http://www.allmusic.com/album/americana-mw0002341609
And about that divorce: maybe his wife had cumulatively enough and wanted to enjoy turmoil-free "last years". Doubtful it's ever going to be placid around Mr. Young. It depends on who is divorcing whom...

Rolling Stones played here last night....
i didnt go but if anyone is interested they got pretty good reviews when taking into account their ages of course...
2hr show, opened with the aptly titled "start me up" and closed with, the again aptly titled, "the last time", and they played some 17 other hits in the "best of" set.

Rodriguez, whom both Jerome and myself have championed on MD over the last couple of years performs here in Perth for three sellout shows next week...
unfortunately, i didnt hear of this one until theyd sold out, would have loved to have seen him live....
each show sold 10,000+ tickets at $100 a pop...not bad for a guy who faded into oblivion before his career even started back in the early 1970s!

Neil Finn has a show coming up in Perth next year also(march i think?), rumour has it that it will be his last live performance ever...time will tell!

Foo Fighters have announced an Aussie tour for next March, tickets for their shows go on sale in a couple of weeks...depending on the price i will probably go
to that one...as some of you guys know, im a huge fan of Dave Grohl and Co.

I'm getting old.

My 15 yo son asked me to take him to a concert last Sunday. Now, I'm mostly a prog rock kind of guy, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've been to 100's of concerts, so I was pretty laid back about going.

The band was called Streetlight Manifesto. The genre is "ska punk". I've never even heard of ska.

Let me tell you, this band rocked the house! I didn't fully understand what they were doing musically, nor could I comprehend the lyrics, but the crowd loved them and knew every song by heart. The energy was great, and the bands musicianship was fantastic.

I was easily the oldest dude there, but I really enjoyed it. It pays to step out of your musical comfort zone.

I love to watch the concert and like it so much, I appreciate that you have started a nice thread to discuss about music and concerts. I got very less chance to watch the concert, by this thread I will be able to know about where the concert is going on and its tickets.
