They now have clubs in Ireland where young people are sitting down and listening to WHOLE albums in one sitting. Seems to be quite popular at the moment. This week in Dublin 'The Wall' was examined in minute detail. Just heard this on a radio show and the comments from the younger folk are quite interesting - they are starting to see these albums as movies rather than the 3 minute tracks they currently have on their playlist. Comments anyone?
i love the idea of a 'record club'...sounds similar to a 'book club' or a 'movie club' thing whereby people watch/read the same book/movie then analyze it n a group...
i think i would join one of those if they had them here...or better still, i should start one!
as for vinyl...
yes it is regaining popularity worldwide...
probably because it is a 'retro' thing and the whole retro clothing/furniture culture is now turning to music...
and speaking of 'retro'.......
i even read somewhere a while ago that young people in Melbourne/Sydney are now buying the daily newspaper and reading it because of the novelty/retro value of it and sales of daily newspapers have started to increase for the first time in over a decade.
My God, if things keep going backwards we'll all have landline phones and VHS in a few years....LOL
